It's always a good day for a soak in the clear warm waters of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool! The hot springs of Ouray have been enjoyed since at least the 14th century when native Ute Indians used the naturally hot clear water for healing. Settlers came to the area in the late 1800's in search of gold and precious minerals, and many found comfort in the natural hot springs. The current swimming pool was constructed in the 1920's and has been a favorite destination ever since. Seven different springs supply the pool with water. At the source some of this water is 150 degrees! The pool consists of several sections maintained at different temperatures for different tastes. The hot section is approximately 104 degrees, and a soaking section, perfect for families and prolonged soaking, is typically 95 degrees, or so. The lap lanes and deep section are usually about 80 degrees in the summer and fall, and cooler than that in the winter months when there is snow on the ground. The Ouray Hot Springs Swimming Pool is an outdoor pool open all year. Many people enjoy the pool the most in the winter, after a day spent ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on the local ice rink (skates are available to rent at the Hot Springs Pool), or simply as a place to relax and enjoy the splendid scenery of the San Juan Mountains.

Stayed in Ouray for a night and took kids to Hot Springs the next day. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. There's a hot pool for soaking, a warm pool, and a cooler pool with an inflatable pool volleyball "court," an obstacle course, slides for big and little kids, and many lifeguards keeping an eye on things. Our kids aged 7 to... More

We bought 3 month passes to the hot springs while on vacation and made several trips here with our 5 children. They all loved it but the main pool area really needs to be warmer. This was a common complaint from our kids and their grandparents. Most pools are 82-84 while Ouray hot springs keeps their main pool at 78-79.... More

Outdoor hotsprings pool with hot, medium, and cool pools, reasonably priced. Cool pool has three slides from kiddie slide up to adult size slide. Pool is large and a bit crowed at times so, it is not maintenanced as well as it could be. Lots of lifeguards to supervise and maintain civility in the pool so that older adults can... More

After spending $40 for our family of 4 to swim- my expectations were high. The pools are disgusting. There is debris, paper, band aids, and other miscellaneous stuff floating in the pool. It also appeared as if someone dumped a bag of the fish food they have for sale in the pool. The swimming areas are not that big and... More

Hi Keedran. I'm sorry to hear that you had a less than stellar experience at our hot springs facility. The cleanliness of our facility is our second highest priority behind patron safety. We have a maintenance crew that operates two pool vacuums 5 days a week to clean all sections of the pool before we open to the public. These... More

Inexpensive soak in the hot springs. Large area to swim, soak, or play. Decent shower facilities. Hope to come back.

We wanted to have a fun famil day. Well turns out the facility is dirty and not well maintained. They were so over crowded. Tried to play some basketball in 4 feet of water only to be told that our 10 month old wasn't allowed in that area. Yet no sign states that. Went to talk to a supervisor who... More

Hi suemarie2011. The summer months are indeed a busy time at the Ouray Hot Springs Pool. As part of regular duties, our lifeguards are required to check restrooms, locker rooms, showers and laundry when they come down from rotation (every 15 min). This allows us to keep up regular cleaning and maintenance of the facility. In addition to this, we... More

This hot springs has 2 soaking pools, a lap swimming pool, 3 water slides, and an wibit obstacle course. The water slides were really fun, and I really like swimming. The lap pool was hard to get out of as therecare no steps out of that area and there is an internal concrete wall that seperates it from the obstacle... More

We have two swim team swimmers who needed to work out while traveling and this is the place. The water in the 25 meter lap pool is a comfy 80 degrees and the altitude is around 7000 feet so it is a good place to work out. The $12 price can be reduced if you buy discount tickets from a... More

Lots of things to do here. The pool is quite large with different segments for the heated thermal waters. Slides and an obstacle course for the kids and the adventurous adults. The slides and obstacle course close at 6pm in the summer so don't get here late. They have an optional gym, but I'm not sure it would be worth... More

This pool is an amazing addition to any Ouray visit. We loved the different sections of the pools. You could choose the temperature of your swim/soak by the area of the pool. You could transition between areas easily. The water was great & it was nice not to have a sulfur smell. Pool was huge so plenty of room even... More
