Very welcoming, knowledgeable host for a very casual, educational tour of an alpaca farm. We interacted with the alpacas, per them (as they were in the mood), learned some of how an alpaca farm operates and left with a few alpaca items (daughter with a real alpaca fleece stuffed animal, me a hat and my wife with a blanket). I highly recommend the stop.

My family (all adults) visited the ranch the morning of our flight home from Telluride on our way back to Montrose Airport. Jim and Kip were our guides during our tour. They were very knowledgeable and able to educate us as we observed and interacted with the animals. We were directed straight to the pens just as the alpacas came in to feed, and before we knew it, we were surrounded by these captivating creatures. We spent an unforgettable hour getting to know the animals and their personalities. There is a small gift shop to purchase alpaca yarn and finished items after the tour.

Due the travel delays we arrived late, Bob heard our sob story and still accommodated us for a quick tour, feeding and expert level data dump on how to raise happy alpacas!. The facilities are spotless and all of the alpacas and dogs are as happy as pets! Bob has so much knowledge and enthusiasm. Time flies! If you want to really enjoy something different and real.. you gotta go!!!

A visit to this working ranch is definitely worth the time! The adults and kids alike had a fun time in a picturesque setting. We felt right at home and it was an educational experience. Matt was an excellent guide and answered all of our questions. And of course- the alpacas were adorable!

We had such a wonderful time at Flying Iron Ranch! We were pleasantly surprised at what a hands on experience this was; we were able to get right in with the alpaca, feed them, help weigh them and see, firsthand, what individual personalities they each have. . This up close experience was much more than we expected and our hosts made it a ton of fun for all of us. Bob and Stasia were very knowledgeable and welcoming; they took their time to ensure that both us and the animals were comfortable and that we got the most of our experience. It is obvious how much they love these animals and how well they are cared for. There is a unique little gift shop here as well that we really enjoyed, lots of fun stuff made with the alpacas’ fur. What a rich experience, we highly recommend the Flying Iron Ranch

Out of this world is the only way I can describe our alpaca adventure! It was one of the most incredible experiences we have ever had. Bob and Stacia were amazing. We walked into the adventure without a clue about these animals and we left with a head full of information and a heart full of love for alpacas. We are so crazy about them that we are now researching buying our own alpacas. If I could give the Flying Iron Ranch 10 stars I would!

We had age ranging from 4yr old to 75 year old (4 generations in our group). Bob and wife were absolutely amazing. We ALL had a great time. We learned from these very knowledgeable folks, feed, watered down the Alpacas due to the heat. Petted, loved on. Enjoyed the guardians as well. Our family had a blast! Thank you so much for such an amazing trip. My granddaughter still talking about it many days later. 🥰

What a fantastic experience. As soon as we came up to the front door, we were greeted by the caretakers. We learned more about alpacas and then we ever expected. We got to feed them, weigh them and pet them. This is by far one of the highlights of my vacation.
