This was an incredible snowmobile tour for three new riders. Shep, our friendly, experienced guide, took us right from the shop to the trail. It was absolutely gorgeous scenery - I couldn't believe there was no snow in the town of Salida and then feet of snow only a short way up the trail. We passed an old mine, a couple beautiful winter log cabins, and breaktaking, snowy views.

It was really easy to learn how to use the snowmobiles. We were somewhat nervous, but got the hang of it very quickly. Felt in control the whole time. The best part was definitely the free ride time in a larger area where we could whip around and go as fast as we wanted. Exhilarating!

(Of course, no bathrooms on the tour, so we had to squat out of our snow pants and find a random spot somewhat off the path. HA!)

We were three single snowmobile riders with three double snowmobile riders (six riders). I only wish we could've went a bit faster on the trail, but we had to keep the speed manageable for everyone. (hovering around 10 mph)

I highly recommend this tour for a winter getaway and for newer riders. We did pay for the $20/person insurance that the shop recommended, but we didn't end up needing it.

After the tour, Chris, talked to us about Salida, his enthusiasm for Colorado, his adventures, and had a contagious, care-free, positive attitude. He was stoked to chat us up and ensure we had a great time! We used the bathroom at the shop and took our time to enjoy the complimentary tea, hot apple cider, and hot cocoa in the sitting area.

Thanks, Monarch Snowmobile Tours, for a great adventure!

My wife and I went on a tour with these guys on New Year’s Day, and it was the best!

Because of a miscommunication we got there about 15 minutes late and our tour had to leave without us. It was disappointing but it was only reasonable that the people who got there on time should not be shorted on their tour just because we arrived late.

Fortunately for us, Chris, the manager, was very accommodating and offered for us to reschedule to another date or to take a tour later in the day. We chose the latter and it was incredible. Most riders on our tour were pretty experienced. We were not, but our guide, Joe, was very patient and helpful. He made it a really fun outing. And although we lost an hour off our tour by missing our original time (we took a 4:00-6:00 PM tour in lieu of a 3-hour morning tour) we couldn't have been more pleased. Snowmobiling after sundown is truly a special treat, and the trails are not jammed with other snowmobilers.

One word of advice: pay the $20 insurance fee. If you wreck the sled you could end up on the hook for $6,000. What a horrible way to ruin a vacation!

I look forward to coming back next season!

One of the absolute best ways to enjoy the mountains! Our tour guide, Chris, had the best energy, patience and excitement we could have asked for! He had a smile on for the entire 3 hours, despite having to dig our snowmobiles out of the fresh powder many times. On top of having tons of passion for what he does, he also provided a super intriguing history lesson throughout the tour - it really added to the experience! If you’re considering it, book it! We celebrated a 30th birthday with all females, and it was the highlight of our weekend. Would recommend going as doubles on each snowmobile if you want a mix of sight seeing and driving/experiencing the mountain terrain.

It breaks my heart to leave this review.... we booked this weeks in advance and had a group of 6. There were 4 adults and 2 children. We were all so excited as this was everyone’s first time snowmobiling. When we arrived we received what I can only describe as the most abhorrent customer service and treatment. We arrived on time at 1:30. Someone from our group went inside to inform them we were there and to turn in her and her husbands waivers as she was the only adult needing to rent full gear. Everyone else in our group only need goggles and a helmet. Chris, the person we interacted with, would not allow her to rent gear until everyone’s waivers were turned in. Why!? This literally made no sense and wasted a TON of time!! Had he allowed her to give her and her husbands waivers, get started on her gear rental, and get dressed in the full gear everything would have gone smoothly and on time!! So, we try to hurry and get everyone in there so we can hand them the waivers all at once so our friends can rent their gear. It just went extremely down hill from there.... he proceeds to belittle, and be very aggressive towards our group in what I can only describe as the most unprofessional behavior I have ever seen from a business. He was threatening our group saying you can leave and you won’t get a refund. This was because he was asked to stop speaking to us in such a disrespectful manner. I have my 8 and 5 year old daughters with me and you can imagine how mortified we were. This all could have been avoided if:

1. The company was clear on their arrival time expectations. They tell you to arrive 30 minutes early and that you can rent gear there. However, what they really are implying is you need to be completely ready to go geared up and everything 30 minutes early! That is a huge misstep in communication because if you arrive 30 minutes early you truly DO NOT have enough time to rent gear, put on the gear, get your safety brief and instructions to leave on time!!

2. He had allowed our friends who needed to rent gear to give him their waivers and get started on the rental process instead of forcing them to wait until everyone came inside! This was so unnecessary!! We already had our snow bibs and everything and we’re putting them on outside the moment we pulled up! She went in immediately to get her process started and he wasted their time and ours by not allowing her to rent gear when she arrived!

3. If Chris had handled himself professionally. Under no circumstance is it ok to be so ridiculously rude and unprofessional to PAYING customers! Never once did we speak to him in a manner that warranted the response we received.

Our guide, Thomas, was really amazing. He had a great attitude and was a really great guide! My only regret is that Chris made his job even harder by frazzling our group and being so disrespectful to us before sending us out on the tour.

If your a service member, let me just say service member to service member, I think your hard earned money could definitely warrant you a better customer service experience elsewhere.

We love all of our guests. We love to see our guests arrive! Occasionally, we love to see guests go. Chris here, I am the general manager of Monarch Snowmobile Tours. As an operations manager, I am occasionally forced to hurry people to meet their scheduled trip departure time if other paid and checked -in guests are on your tour and ready to go. If you are late or having trouble getting ready we will do our best to assist you in preparing for your trip. We want to show you a good time. WE DO NOT DELAY THE TRIPS OF OTHER PAID GUESTS IN ORDER TO ACCOMIDATE GUESTS WHO ARE LATE OR NOT READY TO GO. We do not make exceptions to this policy. Guests who arrive on time and cooperate with our simple requests depart and return from their trips on time and have wonderful experiences. This is our commitment to our guests. Guests who arrive late, fail to honor our simple requests and become confrontational typically do not have as much fun as everyone else. This rarely happens and I congratulate you on being one the few who make our jobs more difficult in providing a pleasurable experience. Thank you for giving us a chance to show you a good time. Sad that your trip didn’t go the way we hoped. Be nice, be a team player, it makes life easier!!! XOXO, Chris General Manager Monarch Snowmobile Tours More about our company: We ask very little of our guests: 1) Pay a reasonable price for our services so we can make a profit and continue as a business. 2) Arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to your tour so that we can “take great care of you without stressing you out”…..I say these words at the time of every reservation I make. 3) Fill out our 1 page waivers so that we can operate legally and protect your best interests and ours. 4) Choose to accept or decline the OPTIONAL insurance that we offer. Our waivers state that you are financially responsible for damage to the snowmobile you use. Our optional insurance provides peace of mind for the price of $20. OPTIONAL, OPTIONAL, OPTIONAL 5) Honor the requests of our staff and guides so that we can provide you with a safe and memorable experience. Our company and employee commitment to our guests: 1) Provide a safe and enjoyable snowmobiling experience on top of the Rocky Mountains. 2) Provide great value in all of our products and services 3) We will do what we promise, and do not deviate from our commitments to you. 4) Monarch Snowmobile Tours operates in compliance with US Forest service regulations , as well as Colorado local and state laws to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests.

Monarch Snowmobile Tours was absolutely an amazing experience. We came from Florida and the other place were we had a reservation to do snowmobiling cancelled 1 day prior to our tour at a different location.
Monarch accepted and accommodated us since we were a big group, the staff were really nice and the experience was unique. We would definitely recommend this place, we are happy that things happened the way they did because we ended up enjoying it more than expected, affordable and amazing views.

Can’t say enough about this place! The staff were very kind, energetic and helpful. Eric was our guide and he was fantastic! The owner is retired military and has the place running like a well oiled machine - filtering groups in and out with ease. They will supply you with everything you need for the tour, including cold weather gear if needed. Once you get out there, it really is like a dream. Views are absolutely stunning! If you’re considering this, stop thinking. Just go! We will do this again ourselves if we’re ever back out west.

We had a group of 3 adults and 3 kids all under 12 so we did the two hour scenic tour. Our guide Sean was great with providing instructions to the two adults and three kids who had never been snowmobiling. The tour had history of the area by the guide which was interesting and there was an area for free riding for a bit. We all had a great time. I would do it again.

We did the 5 hour tour and we had Conner for our guide. Conner explained the machines perfectly and helped us get out of some sticky situations. We had three sets of couples and rode duos. The scenery was breathtaking and the snowmobiles were a lot of fun to cruise around on. The tour is mostly guided but there is some time where you get to go in a wide open area and ride around on your own. You are provided helmets but they are open faced so bring goggles. If you need gear you can rent it there for a reasonable price. They also have two really cute shop dogs! We had a lot of fun and will be talking about this adventure for a long time to come.

We had the best time on our 2 hour tour with Matt as our guide. Great mix of trail riding and time to enjoy free riding in a beautiful meadow. Very well organized and safety focused. Would love to go back and try some new terrain. We had kids riding with us, ages 9 and 12, and the two hour ride was perfect for them. Had I been with adults only, probably would’ve wanted a longer ride. We got great pictures and even better memories!

We arrived as early as possible due to road conditions. They welcomed us in and were told to enjoy the fire while we wait. Once we were all geared up we were given specific instructions leaving no doubts in our minds on how to handle the machines. We took of on the trails and if anyone needed help or further instructions they were happy to do so. We rode as long as we could. We had had our 6 year old grandson with us and he was frozen after about an hour. We asked to return instead of finishing the trip. No questions they immediately turned us around. We were nearly back and my wife was a little scared of going down a hill so our guide BK took our grandson down quickly. They ran him inside and set him by the fire. About ten minutes later we walked in and they had his shoes off a blanket around him and hot chocolate in his hand. We sat and warmed up until we were ready to leave. I highly recommend using their services and taking to the trails. Conditions that day were dangerously cold -9 degrees and -21 wind chill. Their team took fantastic care of us all.
