This is probably the most beautiful dog park in the world. Davidson Mesa has trails for hikers and bikers with views of the mountains through out. The snow capped front range views are just remarkable. There is a fenced area for dogs to be off leash. The dogs are able to run, play and make new friends while you get to know fellow dog lovers! Yes, you can run like most of the folks up on the mesa. But most don't know that it's better to sit on a bench and just stare at the mountains. If you bring a pastry, the runners will not look at you which is all the better!

Davidson Mesa is basically a small park that is nestled in a residential Louisville neighborhood and it overlooks the city of Boulder. There are lots of dirt-packed trails for running or biking, and some awesome views of the mountains and Boulder. Highly recommend this place.

***AN OLDER COUPLE HIT MY PUPPY HERE***
So disappointed and saddened with my experience at Davidson Mesa trailhead dog park today. We are new to the area and one of the neighbors recommended this park for off leash dog play. I researched it before hand and it seemed like a nice place. Boy was I wrong. I have a 5 month old rescued Australian Shepherd and this park says it is an off leash park and puppies over 4 months are welcome to come play. My pup is such a good boy and mostly trained. He is still a puppy though. The problem started as soon as we entered the park around 11am on October 3rd 2019. There was an old couple (probably in their 60's) sitting right at the front of the inside of the off leash dog area, in camping chairs they had brought and set up. I said good morning to them and got no reply, just glares back. I thought this was odd as Louisville seems like a welcoming place. I proceeded to let my pup off his leash and he ran around and was having a blast. The rude couple from earlier were still sitting in their chairs and holding their dog in their lap. My pup got close to them as he was curious about their dog and their dog proceeded to snarl and snap at my dog. I took this as a cue to get my dog away from theirs. However; my curious pup ran up to their chairs to investigate their dog before I could grab him. The old rude couple proceeded to scream at me to get my "horrible dog away from their princess" AND HIT MY DOG. I was shocked. My puppy was simply sitting by their chairs trying to sniff their dog, remember he is only 5 months old. Meanwhile their dog was growling and barking and trying to attack my dog. The couple proceeded to tell me that I needed to put my dog on a leash and leave because "their dog doesn't like dogs that are bigger than her" (my pup is 20lbs). I was so shocked I was speechless. I asked them why they were so upset as it is an off leash dog park and they continued to yell and me and my dog to get away and leave. Meanwhile the woman got out of her seat and continued to swat at my dog while he was sitting next to me on his leash. I was so upset I started crying. I suggested maybe they should go to a small dog specific park if their dog doesn't like larger dogs (as this park is an any size dog park). They continued to threaten me and my dog so I just left. I am so sad for my puppy that he had to experience this. I felt so unwelcome and judged by this couple and hurt my their actions and words toward my 5 month old puppy and I. I will never come back here and I recommend that you stay away from the park if you see an older couple sitting in chairs in the park. I reported this incident to a ranger who was on the premise and had witnessed the actions. He told me that I should go to the city council to report it, which I will be doing. Nobody has the right to tell me and my dog to leave an off leash dog park when my dog did nothing wrong and was obeying all the rules. Also the fact that they hit my 5 month old puppy for sniffing their dog is horrible. I also feel like people who don't like all dogs should not be going to a dog park where it claims "all dogs are welcome". Just wanted to warn people of my experience here! I hope this never happens to anyone else. I took a picture of the rules just to make sure that I was following them and I was.

This reasonably flat mesa has multiple options for distance and is an ideal spot for a walk, run or bike and is extremely accessible. FYI- the dog park frequently closes for short periods of time follow large rains or snow melt events due to mud.

Davidson Mesa has an off leash fenced dog park as well as trails adjacent to the fenced area that provide multiple routes to run, walk, or bike any distance you choose. Great views from the Mesa.
Easy parking and not usually crowded.

Nice views of the mountains, wide trails, and our favorite enclosed dog park. We go there several times a week. When the small lot is full, park across the street and use the underpass. Cheers!

Just off US 36 as you top Davidson Mesa is the newly rebuilt overlook. It has breath taking views of the Boulder Valley and on the 4th of July the fireworks

The reason to come is for the views. You can see a vast span of the Front Range and the Flatirons in context. Good spot for a picnic, photo op or just to let your eyes soak in the magnitude of the Rockies. There is space for a short-loop hike and an adjacent dog park.
