Had heard how pretty Roxborough State Park was and have to agree! Hiked two of the trails, South Rim Trail and the Fountain Trail! Both gorgeous! The South Rim Trail was nice and shady, as I went on a warm July day! Rock formations are unbelievable! Well worth it! Also, bring your insect repellent if you're there in the evening... More

Wow. This is a gem. I grew up in Colorado and know well the beautiful red rock sandstone formations but they never cease to leave me awestruck. The view from Carpenter Peak is phenomenal and worth the 3.2 mile strenuous hike (this is strenuous for people with knee problems, breathing problems, elderly-not used to hiking, and young kids. Most everyone... More

This is the only place I have been where I've seen bighorn rams fighting! Just like the wildlife films where they get up on the hind legs then charge and hit each other with their horns!

We went on a short hike here; scenery changed as we walked; there were a few overlooks to take pictures. Maybe an hour or so for hike.

Like Garden of the gods in Colorado Springs but not as crowded. It was very hot when we went in June. We would have stayed longer if it were cooler. I suggest going early or late in the day. We saw 2 deer right by the visitor's center. Make sure to stop and pay the $7 park fee. We saw... More

This is a must see State Park. Great if you are into hiking. Suggest that you at least hike the trail by the visitor center. There is a $7 fee to enter. Highly recommended. See my pictures.

One of the best state parks close to Denver with hiking trails that range in distance and difficulty. Great for spotting wildlife, enjoying autumn leaves, and spring wildflowers. Plenty of shade trees and benches to rest and enjoy the quiet. Visitor's center offers hiking sticks to borrow, clean restrooms, and activities for kids as well as helpful Rangers and volunteers.

We love to hike, especially when natural beauty or history is involved. Combine them and we are even happier. We decided recently to take in Roxborough State Park for the first time. We first took the Fountain Valley Trail through some gorgeous rock formations, past a historic homestead, and were able to get beautiful views of Denver in the distance.... More

This quiet park reminds me of Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs; the red rock formations are similar. There are trails ranging from 2 miles to over 8 miles in length, suiting various levels of fitness. The visitor center has some nice displays, restrooms, and walking sticks that you can borrow to use for the day. The red rock... More
