We used to walk here all the time with our kids. It is a great park but it does not allow dogs. I believe this is because of the wildlife (and you do see deer regularly) so there is a good reason but beware before...More

This local state park is great for families or those who want to experience Colorado hiking without traveling far from the city. Great vistas. As some have commented one does need to be aware of their environment as there is wild life and poison oak...More

Over 300 million years in the making! The 60 degree slat from the sandstone Red Rocks are some of the most dramatic tucked away in these Colorado Hogbacks along the Rampart Range! Unlike Red Rocks Ampitheater, this remains in its natural state. There are many...More

Love going to Roxborough State Park. At the end of a long day, to hike, relax, enjoy the peacefulness, and take pictures. Highly recommend it!

Saw snakes on or near the trail twice on a hot day. That was enough for us. Beautiful scenery though and well marked trails with facilities at the bottom. Enjoy!

I enjoyed a solitary hike throughout the park taking amazing photos as I went. While there were many other hikers, all of us enjoyed the peace and solitude without distracting or disturbing each other. The scenery is breathtaking. Even the drive into the park is...More

Roxborough has fascinating rock formations, a number of nice trails, and a small, but well-done interpretive center.

What a great place to take in the beauty of Colorado; we saw dozens of deer, hundreds of birds, and spent less than about 15 minutes driving through the Park. Definitely worth the short drive from Denver.

There is not a tram ride around the park. For older visitors, you might try the Fountain Valley Trail - that is considered one of the easiest, but please keep in mind this is a real hiking trail - not a paved walk. For... More

Hi. If you have a State park pass you can get in for free, if not it is a daily fee of $8.00 . Be prepared to have cash on hand in case no one is at front booth then you have to place in a slot. It's worth the beauty. Hope... More

Red Rocks - where should we go? (4 Replies)
We have one more day and are closer to either Red Rock Amp or Roxborough State Park - does anyone think we should drive the extra hour to hour 1/2 to garden of the gods instead? We are in the Idaho Springs area and looking to fill our last day here. Thank you! (With a 19 and 16 year old with us as well).

Garden of the Gods is a special place. But as much as I love it, I wouldn't spend 3 hours+ in the car just to see it.
Itinerary Times (5 Replies)
Hi all, I have decided to pack a lot in on my trip, which is the last weekend in September, plus a few days during the week. My itinerary is set. I just want to sanity check how much time some things during my trip will take. If you have a good guestimate about how much time something will take, please put in your two cents worth. Don't worry if you don't know them all. Any and all help will be immensely appreciated. Mainly I'm wanting the minimum and maximum time that an average...More

As for Garden of the Gods, I would think an hour or so would be plenty. Royal Gorge Bridge, I assume you mean the bridge and not the railway, again, about an hour or so would be enough, I think. I'm terrified of tall bridges, so when we visited the bridge I stayed at one end and watched while my family and friends crossed it back and forth. =)
