Don't just drive through town, stop and learn about Leadville's extensive mining history. Gold and silver were mined here in the 1800s and the town boomed. Many of the buildings on Harrison (main street) date from this era. Boom Days weekend in August celebrates this...More

Spent an hour and a half here during our visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. The model of the ice castle was especially unique. Younger children may not enjoy it, but our teenaged granddaughter liked it.

Descent museum as far as exhibits. I especially liked the room with old typical home goods from historical families. There is a chronological history of the official town of Leadville, and some real mining equipment and structures to view outside. We thought it was severely...More

If you are a history buff, stop by the Heritage Museum to learn a little bit about Leadville. There is a rich history of silver mining and how the town came to be. Don't forget the railroad, and the infamous "Unsinkable" Molly Brown.

An eclectic mixture of interesting material on Leadville. A lot of reading if you want the detail. The lady curator is interesting and informative. She is very proud of Leadville.

A bit pricey for a small town museum but a good way to kill 30-45 mins. The museum starts with a diorama history of Leadville and its early mining days. A few small mineral displays, antiques, and war memorabilia round out the museum's displays. The...More
