This was a great tour and Bob was wonderful. A must do if your in the area as mining made Leadville. You will go down a mine shaft 600" and then walk through tunnels. Dress warm as it can be 40 degrees!

This was an unexpected nugget of history and fun. Bob was a first rate tour guide. He discussed the history of the area and mining techniques associated with that time period. Traveling down 600 feet into the earth in the same manner miners have for centuries is an experience. For the best experience keep your group less than 9, call... More

I went on this tour and it was better than I hoped. It was cool to see how being underground and working in the old days was. Bob gave a very detailed tour and showed how to run some of the equipment he uses down there. I would recommend taking this tour if you want a unique experience when visiting... More

Went with my 72 year old mother and 8 year old son. Honestly went because I thought my son would like it, but I ended up really being captivated by the whole experience. Bob was interesting and full of knowledge. I do not know anywhere else you can get a tour 60 stories underground. I feel grateful to have seen... More

We booked the tour where the payment is only by cash. Upon reaching there and looking at the crude setup (no toilet even), we were not sure whether to go. However, having booked we decided to take the tour and it was an amazing experience. Bob, the owner, gave us a comprehensive background and took us down 60 stories. The... More

8/15/15 Don't let anyone tell you there aren't mines to be toured (as we were)! Hopemore is the only one that lets you actually go down in the mines. They're a little hard to get a hold of (you just have to wait for a return call which we received the evening on the day we called), but we were... More

This is a real deal mine tour. I did the tour first week of Aug 15. Only hard part was to get on it as they only do phone reservations and space, time is limited. But be persistent as it is all worth it. I left several messages and got a call back night before I wanted to take the... More

First of all, this is a tour of a real mine given by a real miner, not just a rock tunnel with shovels and hardhats for affect and a tour given by a guide that would rather be skateboarding that day. As a result, there is so much to learn and experience in a way that allows you to imagine... More

Made reservation on same day for tour. Bob, the miner confirmed by phone and we met at the mine. Our tour ran almost 2.5 hours and we paid $25 each. What a bargain. We went 600 feet underground in a lift that just barely fit 5 adults and were guided through the mine as well as given great history, instruction... More

Absolute MUST! Bob and Casey were great. Go 600 or more feet underground into mine. Must be able to walk on uneven ground. Take waterproof shoes/boots, jacket, and flashlight/headlight. The more flashlights the better, just enables you to see more. Very cold, wet and dark, but a must see. Actually demonstrates how the mine works, can see gold in minerals... More
