We went driving one Sunday and ended up at Turquoise Lake. I wish wed packed a picnic as there were some beautiful views from the cliffs on the upper side. The road is paved. There are multiple campsites.

There’s a lot of people fishing right off the beach. Even on a busy weekend, we were able to get a great place to park. We took the kayaks across the lake for a private, secluded picnic.

The lake is large, and provides for many outdoor recreational opportunities. You can hike, cycle, fish or just picnic.

The campgrounds were inviting once we found them but tree removal made some areas look barren. Try the western end on the lake as it appeared to be less disturbed and quite scenic.

Lots of camping options at Turquoise Lake, and plenty of hiking and other activities for families, but recommend stopping by the Leadville Ranger Station to plan your day trip and get some valuable info on where to go and/or what to avoid.

Came here last year and enjoyed the views. This year it was cold and windy, but just as pretty. The Belle of Colorado campsite was superb. Drove around the lake afterwards.

I have been snowmobiling here for quite a few years and each time, it is always a pleasurable experience. Firstly it is worth knowing and being reassured that during the winter, the main snow paths are groomed by the snowmobile club of Leadville, via their...More

We camped here this weekend. The lake is beautiful. The surrounding forests are beautiful. It is very quiet camping. We stayed in Matchless campground, but there are several others. If you like the outdoors, you will find something to suit your fancy.

Stumbled upon this lake with campsites, stunning, to say the least. I would have camped there in a heartbeat if I had the time and the gear. Heavenly!
