Great natural park which is about 1 hour drive from vienna. We came by car and for two persons we paid 7,5 euro to enter. It is tight road up and can get quite busy close to the atractions so once up best is to park before and walk the last part. The while area is nice for walking and you have well marked routes, shorter and longer. When there go for the skywalk which is included in the price was a bit crowded but the view is great as are all around. Due to covid all the hotels and resturants were closed but still was a great walk.

Naturpark Hohe Wand is a nature park in the beautiful setting of the Hohe Wand about an hour south of Vienna near the Schneeberg. It is hard to reach by public transport but by car the route through some incredibly picturesque villages is excellent. The Hohe Wand Mautstrasse carries a charge and is quite a twisty route. The Naturpark is a long way around up the hill so budget for an extra to the travel time. It is not well sign posted but just keep going and it eventually becomes obvious.
Entry fee is combined with the park fee on weekends and holidays. The park itself is a tiny charge of something like €1.80. It seems to be a somewhat voluntary charge when not combined with the Mautstrasse. The road costs something iike €4. There is a decent amount of parking space.
The Naturpark itself is delightful. It starts with a children's play area and the stroking zoo. The play area is good. There are a range of animals including pigs, ponies, rabbits, and deer. The deer have ferocious looking antlers.
A couple of huts do not offer too much of an experience but the labyrinth just off the path at the start is pretty good.
The Naturpark itself is essentially a series of walks. The routes all feed into one another and are generally pretty accessible. Wheelchair users will not be able to take full advantage of the park. Buggies are ok but it is hard going at times.
What makes this better than a normal walk in the forest is the twin pleasure of entertainment for children and animals. The children's entertainment comes in the form of play areas every so often around the route. Each area typically has one thing to do - a slide, a swing, climbing, jumping etc. It stops the walk being monotonous for a small child.
The animals are mainly deer and variants of goats. Depending on their sociability with humans they can either be viewed from a platform above or close up. The enclosures are large and fairly natural so the environment is really nice.
Naturpark Hohe Wand is outstandingly well shaded so in the hot summer days it is perfectly possible to trek for a while without succumbing to the heat. In a summer known for its plague of mosquitoes across the country, it was really surprising to see only butterflies and hardly any other flying annoyances.
There are a couple of sight seeing points as well as other features on the Hohe Wand like paragliding. A lot of the Hohe Wand routes out of the Naturpark are not accessible for those with wheels.
Hohe Wand is really nice. The Naturpark is a great place for kids in a terrific environment.

First trip here with a friend today and absolutely enjoyed this! There are so many hiking and walking options. For those more adventurous we saw paragliding and climbers as well.
Not being that “adventurous “ we stuck with the hiking trails and when we made it to the skywalk on such a sunny day experienced one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen!
For children there are Alpacas, deer, goats, wild boar and playgrounds. Many places to stop and enjoy the fresh air, a gift shop for purchasing a souvenir and restaurants in several stops along the trail to stop and grab a bite to eat.
Definitely recommended just have your walking shoes on, plenty of water and time to enjoy this natural beauty!

Went there as a couple to hike, and run around Hohe Wand. The tracks are not always clearly marked, but the area is very pretty and there are other attractions within (zoo, skywalk, restaurants)

If you have some spare time in Vienna, do yourself a favor and go this wonderful sky view. Just rent a car it is the easiest way to do this.

We found this to be a good place for an easy afternoon with 2 active young children . Good variation of trails at any difficulty level , with animal enclosures along the way make for a educational as well as fun walk. The play ground offers lots of different activities such as simulated wood sawing and rowing.
A viewing terrace is a must to visit as well

If you wanna enjoy it, then this is one of the nicest places, where you can see it. You just need some luck and the day to be clear. There are also restaurants and cafe's there, where you can eat something.

When you take a drive up there, surprisingly close to the city of Vienna, you're in for a treat: Watch hang-gliders and parasailers dart through the sky, take a walk in the leafy forests, and enjoy a hearty meal far from the crowds....
