I have the pleasure and obligation to thank the Cantele and Claudia family and sing the praises.
I attended in the morning the interesting visit to the cellar, the good tasting, as well as the rich aperitif.
The visit of the production was well illustrated by Claudia, a true Pro of the reception, who was able to manage and interest with detailed explanations, the right mix for professionals and just curious.
The well-organized tasting ranges from bubbles, a bet kept, to rosés to reds for aging.
Again, the explanations provided were correct, timely and not protracted.
Finally a note of merit also to the aperitif, I would say much more than an aperitif but you know that often in the South... my diet every time gives up!!
So, a pleasant surprise also for the minimalist elegance of the Isensi salon, for the state-of-the-art wine equipment and for the team spirit that exudes.
Bravo all the grandchildren Cantele!!!
See you soon, Claudia, at the MPI convention in November at my house, in Genoa!!

Enjoyed meeting Claudia very much! She was knowledgeable and fun as she walked us through the history and the wines (which we enjoyed greatly). Facility is beautiful and wines fairly priced. We hope to find them back in the states!

I had not visited an Italian winery before and expected something rather rural, rustic and quaint. Not so! This family busness is sparkling, state of the art production with a very stylish I Sensi restaurant/tasting room. We arranged our trip through Puglia Holiday Rentals and the small group of us were treated to a lesiurely tour around the production and cellars followed by a delicious lunch accompanied (of course) by tastings of thier white, rosato and red wines. We enjoyed them all and had a good argumment about which to buy!
Our host Frederica was charming and informative and we were introduced to one of the owners over lunch. We were there for a few hours and I still think of the Salice Salento. yum.

4 couples went on a tour and wine tasting at Cantele. Fun experience overvall. The tour itself is pretty typical (if you've been on a few winery production tours you pretty much know the whole process). That said, our host, Claudia did a great job explaining their process and what makes their wines unique. She was both knowlegeable and delightful. The fun really started when we went to the tasting room. Cantele makes a fairly broad range of wines, so there is something for every palate. Claudia did a wonderful job explaining each wine and helping us make tasting choices. We tasted 5 wines starting with their and they were all excellent. Particularly liked their blend of Susumaniello and Negromare. Cantele is worth a visit if you are looking for a nice afternoon tasting.

The tour was limited, the tour guide was extremely nice and the wines were kind of mediocre. My real peeve is a 20 euro charge requested as we were ready to leave. We paid it but in retrospect wish I would have refused since there was no mention at all of a charge for the visit.
I am sure you can find other cantinas in the area with better wines. Tried Cantian Due Palme primitive is excellent, I don´t know about the winery or the hidden charges

Dear Ralph,
first of all I want to thank you for coming to visit us. I'm very sorry that you didn't appreciate our wines, above all cause the word "mediocre" you used for your description. Well, to each his own.
The charge of 10 euro for each person include a professional tour of the winery and a complete wine tasting of ALL wines we produce. We don't think it's too much considering we make 15 different wines and you have the opportunity to taste a glass of each one of them.
I hope to see you again here.
Sincerely yours.

We booked a last-minute tour of the Cantele Winery through our hotel and drove out to the location the very same day.
First up, the sign indicating the Winery's location is a little faded. So, keep your eyes peeled!
Once we got there, we were greeted by one of the owners, Paolo, and then by our tour guide, Frederica.
Frederica is young, engaging and very switched on, bucking the trend of the traditional perception of the wine industry, which can at times be a little aged and musty. This vineyard clearly likes to do things differently... And it pays dividends.
Our tour was informative and covered every aspect of wine production, ending in a tasting of around six of their wines.
Highly recommended!

During our holiday in Puglia we enjoyed a "regular" Chadonnay from Cantele winery during a diner at a well-known restaurant in Otranto. We were very impressed by the very fine quality and balanced flavors. We decided to visit Cantele winery the next day. We enjoyed many more excellent white, rose, sparkling rose and red wines! And the tasting as such was also a great experience due to good explanations by the passionate staff. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. As a result, many cases of wine are now on its way from Italy to The Netherlands.

My wife and I have been enjoying Cantele wine for years back home in Seattle. When we were recently in Lecce for a week's vacation, we decided to visit the winery to see where some of our favorite wine was grown and made. We certainly weren't disappointed.
We emailed and made a reservation for a tour, hired a car and driver for the afternoon and were greeted by Paolo Cantele, the Marketing Manager for the winery and one of the Cantele family that started and still run the winery.
It was a very informative tour and we got to taste some good wines that are not yet available in the States.
Best of all were the stories Paolo told of his family and how they came to Salento and started a winery. Their roots are deep here and their story is a fascinating one.
Cantele offers many different kinds of tours - according to their website. Ours may have been the basic one, but it was one of the best afternoons we spent on our vacation.

We took a party of 12 to the Winery at very short notice. 2 of our group went by train - the rest cycled from Lecce. The winery arranged for their guide to meet our people at the railway station and take them to the winery and return after the tour. Fantastic service.
The tour was very impressive. This company has invested heavily in the latest technology for wine making and bottling. The wines were superb. Well worth a visit. What a difference to some of the outdated French wineries!
