Canyon View has a lot to offer the span from little ones to those in the golden years. We use the park for the playground, soccer games, and walks around the pond. We used the dog park for years until our dog could not follow direction and stole balls from fellow owners. The little park feels a bit large at times when parenting several kids. It's fine now that my kids are 3 and 5. However, when we go, my spouse and I end up taking 1 kid each and not seeing each other. I love that it's a clean environment. The facilities are well maintained. It's a great park in GV and I'm happy we have it as a resource.

I made a brief stop at Canyon View Park in Grand Junction on the drive from Grand Junction to Utah in September. I found this to be a park suitable for people of all ages ranging from children to seniors. The facilities are ample and of such variety that any visitor can enjoy the park. During my brief walk, I came across people walking, running, and people walking with their dogs. As the name implies, the park provides awesome views of the Colorado canyon. The park is very well maintained and has ample parking. The only thing that could be an issue during hot days is the lack of shade on the walking paths.

This is a great park with views of the Monument, the Book Cliffs and the Mesa. It's huge with activities and spots for everyone. It can be really busy during kids soccer and baseball, but there is tons of parking. Also has a great dog park with several areas. Miles of walking, tennis courts, two ponds, restrooms and sheltered picnic areas.

The park in general is excellent, and it is a huge park. My problem was with the dog park, which could also be a very great attraction. My medium sized Blue Healer was attacked by a pit bull near the inner gate, and injured, requiring expensive veterinary care. The owner of the pit bull was no where near, in fact, he was about 100 yards away. Several people had to beat and kick the pit bull off my dog, all of us screaming and shouting. Some of the people there told me that was not the first time his pit bull attacked another dog without warning; again the owner was no where near when his dog attacked. I was told that in that other attack the pit bull also injured the owner of the injured dog. They said the pit bull owner got away with it in court because of a technical mistake. So, my dog got attacked: how many other dogs will be attacked by this pit bull. Another thing about the dog park that bothers me that the city let over 20 trees die from lack of watering them, and quite a bit of the grass die from a lack of watering all areas at night. How much tax money did those trees, some 20 feet high, cost to buy and to plant. The city seems to take much better care of all the other park areas and all the other parks, than they do of the dog park.

My main reason for going here was the dog park but the park is quite attractive and pleasant and demonstrates how a park can meet the needs of all it's citizens and not just children. . It is large enough to encompass several activities including soccer, baseball, a kids play area, paved walking trails for humans and dogs and a couple of dog parks divided by size. One of the dog parks has a pond accessible to the dogs and it makes for a muddy romp but there are shade trees and pavilions and the dogs enjoyed it. If you don't want them drinking pond water, take your own water. The entrance to the larger dog park is not well thought out with super side gates making it fairly easy to dogs to escape the park if someone is entering or leaving. All in all though we had a pleasant hour there.

The main park is beautiful, but the dog park needs serious attention. More water for trees and grass, both of which are dying in areas.

What a beautiful park. Includes dog parks, soccer grounds, baseball fields, walking path, duck ponds, basketball and tennis courts. Really nice facilities for gatherings and views of the Mesa, the Bookcliffs and the National Monument. The dog parks looked to need some grooming but otherwise great clean facility.

There is an excellent dog park (located near the interstate, at the back of Canyon View) with several different areas for different sized dogs. It is completely fenced so your dog can run free.

Disregard the TripAdvisor saying that the park is closed weekends. The park admin is closed, but the park is open. There are at least three separate fenced areas that I could see for smaller dogs, “active” dogs and one whose sign I didn’t catch but which had a pond. I used the smaller one because one of my dogs doesn’t know how to calmly meet and greet and there was no one in that area. There were benches and shaded (covered) picnic tables. I think I saw water and benches. Poop bags available.
There is parking right in front of the double gate but the dog part of the huge complex is a little tricky to find. It’s basically around the back of the complex.
