This art center has special exhibits and events, and has areas for instruction, as well. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide enough variety for viewing often....except for special events. A larger museum with additional opportunities for educational and cultural purposes would be welcome. The classes are really too expensive for many, so minimizes art appreciation for the larger community.

Robert, Thank you for your visits to The Art Center. It sounds like you have attended festive First Friday events. I want to say we do our best to keep class costs reasonable. We do our best to hit the right mark for the our members, students in general, and the teachers. Also we are in the process of a... More

We often try to take in the Art Center on First Friday events. A lovely time with wine and appetizers and a chance to enjoy the art and friends.

Despite being busy with preparations for the annual art auction which features a juried selection of more than 60 regional artists, several staff at the art center including Mikkel, the director, warmly welcomed us and showed us through the museum and answered our questions. We were amazed with the scope of classes and programs available. Be sure to see the... More

We were over from Denver and wanted to check out this little art center. It was a very pleasant surprise. First, it wasn't little; second, the art was very well displayed and offered a variety of local art.

Our visit to the Western Colorado Art Center was a really pleasant surprise. When you walk in, there is a well laid out gift store and one of the better collections of historic Native American pottery as part of their permanent exhibit. What we were most impressed with was their current exhibit called "Eloquent Forms" by Terry Sheperd and Jared... More

I was fortunate enough to visit the Western Colorado Center for the Arts in Grand Junction recently. The town is lovely and there is a very strong art community and artistic feeling to the town. The Art Center is an integral part of that artistic feeling. I thoroughly enjoyed the ceramics exhibit, which featured local artists, as well as the... More

Constantly changing exhibitions. Lots of special events with live demos. Every first Friday of the month a new exhibit with free hors d'oeuvres and cheap wine and beer.

I visited the Art Center for the first time in October--what a discovery! "This Is Your Country" was a very compelling, well curated exhibit that offered a fresh view of our arid western landscape and the impact of water scarcity in our region. The other exhibits, including the Brush and Palette Exhibit, were also excellent. I will definitely make this... More

The Art Center has year-round art camps for kids during the summer, Christmas break and spring break. The kids learn to do clay work, pastels, portraits and a variety of crafts.
