First time at White Ranch Park and really liked the trail options. The group I was with did not want to travel far for from Denver for a hike. Someone recommended White Ranch Park and it was a great decision. The trails are well maintain and there are several options depending on your level which is great for a small... More

One of the first parks I visited in Denver over 20 years ago. Can get busy; but off season is usually quiet. The lower end of the park is off Hwy 93 a little ways. The lower park appears relatively small. There are some hiking trails that I've taken up the mountain. I suggest these trails for above average ability... More

This are is so pretty and great for a bit of remote camping. Just hike in about one mile and you feel your in the wilderness! A few yrs. ago my daughter, grandson and I went on an overnight camp there for the Jeffco Junior Ranger program. Lots of fun and great views.

This park is one of the Jefferson County Open Space Mountain Parks, and is just to the west of Golden. There are upper and lower parking lots. Starting at the lower lot, the bike trails are challenging and rewarding.

Lots of long trails to enjoy. An upper and lower parking lot and is pet friendly but PLEASE keep pets on a leash for other hikers and the local wildlife. Most trails are easy to use. Picnic tables are scattered so bring a lunch because you will want to spend an entire day here.

I went in January, when there is snow, mud, and dirt, but that didn't stop us from enjoying this wonderful area. The hiking trails, the vistas, the view of Denver, and the historic walk, were all wonderful. I can't imagine how awesome it must be in the summer when you can go camping or BBQ there.

Part of the Jefferson County Open Space system. Good variety of trails, open meadows and shady areas. Busy park especially on the weekends, year round. Has 2 entrances (East, West). If you meet your party at the park, make sure you specify which entry and trailhead you will be meeting at. Tent camping possible though you need a permit prior... More

A wonderful open space near my home. Several trails that you share with both horses and cyclists. Reasonable elevation gain, great views of the mountains and the eastern plain. Dog friendly (but please clean up after yours to the benefit of other hikers. Goes through private land so stay on the trail.

Back east there are few if any parks that allow horses the way they do in CO. I think that's great, though I didn't see any at the park when I was there. It's hard to find any spot on the Front Range that affords a bad picture taking opp. I had a great, short stop here on my way... More

White Ranch can be entered from the top or bottom. If you go in from the bottom, you can do some nice loop hikes and get a good workout by hiking to the top. While the views at the bottom are just ok, as you go up, they continue to improve. Near the top, there is great variety of terrain... More
