Awesome hike

Very thankful we found this hike. We only had one morning to hike in CO and had to try to find once close to Denver. Great workout and it had some beautiful views.

Excellent Hiking!
Oct 2019
On the day I was there a young teacher was instructing second and third graders on proper trail etiquette. The students were excited but listening intently. This is a great park for hiking by oneself or with a group!

Great Hike!
Oct 2019
It is a trail titled Enchanted Forest and the light is lovely coming through the many trees on one section of the trail. The trail is rocky and steep.

Great Trails, well marked, clean bathrooms
Sep 2019
This was a great trail system that we really enjoyed. It is also very popular with the locals, especially mountain bikers. The bikers ride in a certain direction on odd days, opposite on even days. We were lucky to be there on the 20th of the month, so they were coming at us, as we could see them and move out of there way.
We hiked the Apex Trail to the Enchanted Trail and, considered "moderate" on Alltrails, which totaled about 5 1/2 miles with 1,243 feet elevation change. We absolutely loved the trails!!

Really nice climb

This is a really nice trail with a variety of terrain. Check the internet for the correct day to go, whether you hike or bike. Otherwise, it can get kind of interesting. This is a fun trail to do- the enchanted forest is really fun.

A Great Place to Ride but I stick to Even Day
Jul 2018 • Solo
I love to ride my bike here. Climb pick-n-sledge to the top take Hardscrabble to Apex all the way to the end. That is where the fun begins. Take the enchanted forest do to the Apex trail down to the main parking lot. A great 8 mile loop with 1100' of climbing.

There are times when there are a lot of hikers but follow the right of ways and you wont have a problem.

Rugged mountain biking FUN
Aug 2018 • Solo
The trail has alternating days for various activities so be sure to check the schedule. EXCELLENT mountain biking through a section called the Gut and down enchanted forest. - super fun and tricky in certain areas. Plenty of uphill but would do it again in a heartbeat.

Great Escape, but mind the bikes!
Nov 2017 • Couples
After being cooped up in a downtown hotel and the Convention Center all week, trail hiking provide a great escape. Apex Park is easy access from Denver and provides a variety of hiking trails where you can unwind. We opted for the main Apex Trail, which is a loop of about 4 miles and 1100 feet of elevation gain. The views from topside were great and we encountered a large herd of mule deer (about 12 does and a buck) near the top. There was a pretty bad inversion over the city so views of downtown Denver were surprisingly bad. (Made us happy to be up in much cleaner air!) We were there on a Friday afternoon, so the trail wasn't too badly crowded, but the steady stream of mountain bikes was not a welcome distraction. Fortunately, most of the riders were quite courteous. The scenery is not as spectacular as so much of the rest of Colorado, but you can't beat the convenience to the city. I do hear, though, that it can be quite crowded on weekends.

Nice park in Golden
Aug 2017 • Solo
I have hiked this park 3 times now. Very nice. I had been told by multiple people that this was primarily a mountain biking area but did not really find that to be the case. I had no problem hiking and the bikers were always courteous. If you are in the Golden area or close this is a great hike.

Beauty at one's fingertips
Jul 2017 • Family
We hiked the circular pathway from the top to the Apex entry and will do the opposite the next time. Taking the trail through the Enchanted Forest afforded us the surprise viewing of a solitary elk cow, sitting alone deep in the forest, with a Heckle and Jekyll team of ravens chatting above the area. The trail beginning from the Apex side is partially in the sun; so taking it from this end to the other end of the trail may be best on hot days. On cool days, it matters not. It's worth taking a walk, biking, or running, with or without a dog. It's a beautiful walk.
