Very scenic but hair raising in the snow

We came down this highway and the road was white with ice and snow. So were my knuckles! The views were spectacular when I took my eyes off the road.

The "loop" is just a nice Sunday afternoon type of drive. Speed limits are slow, but for good reason. Interesting town is Evergreen and the Evergreen Lake / Reservoir. Has a small dam at the lower end, which in winter is partially frozen (lake is frozen and people ice fish) and cool to look at. Many people actually live full... More

I took the kids on a half day trip around Lariat Loop while staying in Denver. We just took our time and meandered. We stopped at Red Rocks Ampitheater and walked around, Dino Ridge, ate lunch in Morrison, icecream in Evergreen, stopped at random river pull off, climbed around Lookout Mountain, and stopped at Buffalo Bills. We only had 1... More

A wonderful drive near Lookout Mountain. The views are breathtaking. Everywhere you look it's just seeing beauty for miles. Highly recommend this drive. Does have a few hairpin turns but they were no big deal for us.

In mid-October, the route was not especially busy and we saw great views of the foothills on the first day of our trip. There are amazing bikers on the steep and winding route, but plenty of room for all. The historic stops along the way were a good way to get a taste of old Colorado, with time to stretch... More

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Recommend stopping at the amphitheatre for an amazing experience. Signage could be better along the route

Sure the fall colors are always a matter of timing, but even without the beautiful colors this is a must drive with great views.

We came to Denver, but wanted to see some fall colors and spend time up and out of the city. The Lariat Loop provided just what we were looking for! The Loop has several stops along the way: Buffalo Bill Museum, Red Rocks Amphitheater, Dinosaur Ridge, Coors Brewery... just to name a few. It's a beautiful, diverse drive with a... More

We hooked onto the Lariat Loop Scenic Byway after our visit to Buffalo Bill's attraction. There are many signs to keep you on the Byway as well as an informative brochure. You'll see lots of Colorado's beautiful scenery. We stopped at Evergreen Lake for a leisurely lunch under a nice shade tree. We walked along the lake's pathway watching people... More

Great mountain drive for both tourists and locals alike. Actually known as Lariat Loop Scenic and Historic Byway, It passes by many parks, museums and historical sites, as well as a lot of beautiful foothills scenery near Denver. Be sure to look it up on the internet to get points of interest too numerous to mention here, including Buffalo Bill... More
