If you aren't in a hurry, this is a perfect drive. We actually only did half - the freeway was so crowded, we decided to take it and glad we did. We stopped along the way to see the views and at some parks.

This is a great drive into the mountains, while still being close to the big city, at least relatively close. Nice scenic views with many points of access. Hiking trails abound if you want to get out in nature for a bit. Photo opportunities galore here. A nice drive to "get away" while still being close.

We detoured along this loop when we were doing the Peak to Peak drive. Its a very nice drive up a ways to some great views. The nature center was really nice and had nice displays.

The only way to get up to Lookout Mountain without hiking is of course the Lariat Loop road. We took the road up to the mountain and took it down to Golden. Very pretty drive with plenty of pull offs to take pictures or go for a hike. It's got plenty of turns but there are guardrails and it's the... More

Always a nice drive to take with out of town guests. Nice views of the mountains without having to drive too far from Denver. Keep your eyes open for bikes as this is a popular ride.

Absolutely spectacular views as you wind your way. Not for those prone to car sickness. Don't forget your cameras-- you'll want to pull over often to capture the sights. Might see wildlife too. Deer were eating directly next to the road oblivious to the passing cars.

Visitors Center was closed so we couldn't double check our route -- think we did it right. We started in Golden / drove up the Look Out Mtn Rd. At the end of that road, we got onto 70W for a mile or 2 / then exited at 74 South. First part of 74 was not scenic, but once we... More

Incredible views of the mountains and the city lights. If you just follow the loop you'll get a great exposure to our area. If you poke around you can share our communities. Golden, Morrison, Evergreen, Bergen Park, Kitteridge are all nice with good food offerings. The extended

Great, windy drive up the mountain that provides great views of Golden (and Denver in the background) when you get to the top. Even driving slower than posted, my wife and daughter got a little car sick though, so beware if you're prone to motion sickness.

Nice scenery but kind of scary if you are afraid of heights. Some places have no guard rails. It's a switchback road and worth the trip if you can handle that part.
