The drive up to the pass is spectacular, especially in late September, when the aspens have turned to gold. There are plenty of pulloffs to allow you to take pictures and great views of Mount Bierstad when you get to the summit parking area. Luckily, there are also rest rooms in this parking lot.

Right outside of Georgetown and only 40 minutes outside of Denver on I-70 this is a beautiful 11 mile drive up and back that has the most beautiful fall colors. When you see pictures of red and gold aspens they are from here. Plenty of places to pull off and look or take pictures. There are several pick nick tables... More

Driving from Georgetown to Bailey, the aspen were peaking on the first day of fall - yellows and gold sweeping through the mountainsides. Many turnouts ensure that you don't get caught behind a caravan that has you looking at the bumper in front of you rather than the views. Weekdays are definitely recommended at this time of year. The drive... More

An incredibly beautiful and scenic ride. There are many overlooks each with a different perspective. We were there at the peak of the aspens, and the hillsides were balnketed in gold!!! Pay attention and you will see all kinds of wildlife on the sides of the road!!!

We did self driving tour. Fall leaves out and still turning. Areas to pull over and park for pictures. Bring cameras for photo ops. Some areas crowded due to popular time to visit. Beautiful stunning mountain views. Glad I could see.

Not to be missed this time of year, despite the crowds of cars crammed along the roadside. It is a sight to behold, and enough for everyone to see! Be patient, drive slowly and take in the beauty and magnificence of it all. You can't be in a hurry on this one.

We were through the pass on September 24th, and it was absolutely beautiful. An easy drive from Georgetown Colorado, the pass is likely only open during warm months. When we were there in April, the road was closed about half way up due to snow covered roads. It was still a pretty drive up to where the road was closed.

We made this drive several months ago during the fall. The colors were amazing! It was a nice drive and close to Denver. We started off I-70 at Georgetown & ended on the back side at Hwy 285.
