Joel was great and knowledgeable. Gave us plenty of time and picked us up right from our airbnb. My Twin 4 year old and 2 year old enjoyed the train ride and ice creme in Georgetown. Some of the facts that Joel told us was very interesting. I would recommend this tour.

We did the 6-hour tour with 6 adults and 2 children. The adults ranged from 40-73 and the kids were 9&10. Joel (owner) picked us up from the house we were staying at and drove us to the train through a scenic route that included the Continental Divide. He was very friendly, on time and described what we were seeing the whole time. He took time to answer our questions. Joel has a wealth of knowledge of the area and its history. Joel made sure we knew what we were doing at the train depot, got us where we needed to be and told us what to expect when it was over. The train ride was fun and enjoyable. Joel took pictures of us while we were riding on the train from the side of the mountain. Half of our group did the mine tour which I highly recommend. It was so interesting and well done. The other half of our group met us in Georgetown where they had time to shop and look around. We enjoyed a root beer and got back in the van. On the way back we stopped to take pictures at the continental divide. I highly recommend this tour. It is the priciest thing we will do on this vacation but it was well worth it. We will remember this experience forever and I’m glad we did it as a tour and not just caught the train on our own.

This excursion was perfect for our family. Our driver, Joel, picked us up at our rental. While traveling to each of our destinations he shared information about the mountains. The Georgetown train ride that lasted one hour took us through beautiful mountains and rivers. However that was just one aspect of a fantastic excursion. Joel took us to Georgetown and to Loveland Pass to experience snow in July!! And you will also totally enjoy the added surprise!! I would definitely recommend Alpenglow Adventure Tours!!!

In reading some of these reviews(after the fact),it is clear that some of the consistant critiquing has been stated for several years... That said,I thought the owner of this company was quite knowledgeable and personable and a number of hours was spent providing the tour. Personally,I just wasn't impressed with the train tour or the train ride. I expected the train ride and the scenery to be more than it was.. I found the tour to be over sensationalized. Posting a review not only offers an opinion to other travelers but could be used by a company to make some minor changes in their agenda, instead of attacking vacationers on their reviews with insinuating their frugality.(ya don't go to Breck or Frisco if you were cheap)

Alpenglow tours are not just a tour, they are truly an adventure! We took the Georgetown railroad and silver mine tour . This was our second time in 2 years Joel our guide not only presented lots of information about the attractions and "everything Colorado" but added many other surprises. He is truly the best of the best! If you take only on tour when you visit Colorado, you MUST take Alpenglow!
