We had such a fun adventure with Dani, our guide! She gave us lots of fun facts about Breckenridge and Browns Canyon and kept us entertained the whole way down the river. I HIGHLY SUGGEST going for level 4 because we did wish we had a bit more rough waters on our trip. The ladies on the phone suggested level 3 even though I stated we were comfortable for a higher level of adrenaline. We’re pretty fit and athletic and felt the Brown’s Canyon at level 3 was a bit too slow for us. We wanted to feel adrenaline!! Haha
Kids 7/8 and up would love level 3!
The photographers need to be better though because they didn’t get a single good picture with all of us in the picture so we couldn’t buy a photo. :(
Overall great trip, great company, clean equipment, super friendly staff!
P.S. The water is pretty cold May-July so I highly suggest getting a full suit and booties.

We are so glad you had a good rafting trip! We would love to have you come back so Dani could take you down that class four section. We are sorry to hear about the photos but we outsource from another company for those. Thank you so much for rafting with us and leaving a review!
Thanks, KODI Family

Great time rafting on Arkansas River (Browns Canyon) with Brandon. He knew every rock, bend, and current in the water and nearby by name. He maneuvered our boat as a conductor would lead an orchestra: with the right tempo, hitting the crescendos where needed and entertaining all throughout. It was easy to forget that we had to do the paddling :-)
Simple booking, online waiver, fast check-in, speedy gear distribution, nice facilities, plenty of parking and most importantly friendly, funny, knowledgeable staff - this is a well running enterprise that is highly recommended!

Our family of 9 went rafting with Stirky (sp) and had a great time. His ability to control a 16 foot raft in the waters with most of us being adults was a a feat to behold. Would I do it again...........Without a doubt. His stories, jokes and ability to maneuver the river was very impressive.

This was a fantastic rafting experience. Our guide, Keith, was phenomenal! Win our rafting, we just had my hubby with a bum hand, 2 kiddos, myself, and Keith. He worked so hard to get us through each rapid safely and all the while making sure to point out landmarks and cheering on our paddling. He made our daughter's day when she got to "ride the bull" and both of our kiddos said it was their favorite part of our trip. It poured rain for quite a while and Keith stayed upbeat and reassuring the whole time. What a great afternoon on the river. Thanks for the memories, Keith and Kodi Rafting. 10/10 highly recommend! *****5 stars!

We had an excellent experience with Kodi! Dave was our guide and did a fabulous job leading my very apprehensive husband and two kids (9&12) who had never been white water rafting and myself who had been twice before. Excellent customer service and informative advice when I was choosing what to book. Even though my husband was pretty worried the whole trip, Dave constantly did a wonderful job guiding and leading and reassuring him. We had a wonderful time! It seemed like Luka was in charge of the group and he did great as well. My only feedback would be for Kodi to provide some type of microphone for the guide to use on the bus driving to the launch spot so everyone can hear better.

Incredible day white water rafting with our family at the Buena Vista KODI Rafting location. Our guide was Terry Couch who was wonderful to our whole family. We 110% enjoyed the white water rafting experience down the Arkansas River today. I have nothing but all good to say about Terry and KODI. He made it extremely fun for my 6 year old son, my sister and her husband and their two kids, 12 and 9. I can't wait to return for another trip soon. Will definitely recommend to all my friends.

Our group consisted of grandparents to small children and every age in between. We divided into 3 groups. The grandparents and toddlers took the slow ride and the rest of us took 2 rafts. Everything we needed for safety and comfort on the rafting trip was available at the outfitters. Emma and Ben were our raft instructors. These folks were highly trained and clearly put safety first. They also took the fun level from fun to phenomenal! Knowledgeable, patient and treated us all as if they wanted to make sure this was the best part of our 5 day vacation! It took a couple hours from start to finish. I highly recommend putting rafting down Arkansas river with KODI rafting on your to-do list.

Kodi rafting was great! My 3 year old and 5 year old had a blast on the Bid Bend trip, as did my 70-year old parents. Very smooth water and 2 hour trip. Our raft guide, Red, was fantastic with my kids and he even let them help him guide the boat a few times. Thanks for a great trip for all ages!

This is the review that Kodi will not want to see. Before I relay our story, if you are thinking about doing this experience, please take 5 minutes and search arkansas river browns canyon rafting deaths - Search (bing.com), it may change your mind. Also, READ THE WAIVER and understand what are signing. We had 6 people in our family on our trip, 3 females and 3 males (one an 11 year old) and communicated to our professional guide that none of us had experience in whitewater rafting. The trip started by going through gentle current and then a class 2 rapid called Milk Run. Our guide told us we were doing great and we were all following his commands. Our first problem occurred when we encountered our first stage 3 run called Pinball. We were just entering when our guide ran us right into a rock and the raft immediately turned vertical dumping all of us including the guide and completely flipping the raft. A few of us were caught under the raft while the others were thrown away from the raft. Somehow, we all managed to make it to a safe spot to be rescued by other rafts. As you can imagine, we were all shaken from the experience in fact, Kodi had to pull a second guide who happened to be following in a kayak to lead us the rest of the way because our first guide was so shaken. We started again now with two professional guides along with the six of us. At this point, we just wanted to get down the river but our new guide seemed to want to continue to make it an experience. We made it fine through a few stage 3 runs and were approaching a run called the widow maker when the second incident occurred. I don’t know how with two professionals in the raft that we once again hit a rock which caused 5 of us to go overboard. The two guides were on the back of the raft and we had one female who had been so shaken by the first experience that she was lying flat in the back. We were in a rough part of the run but somehow the guides were able to pull l everyone in but me. I was in the front of the raft and when I fell off I was away from the raft holding onto my daughters hand. I did not want to pull her in so I let go and was at the mercy of the raging river. I do not know how, but I managed to get toward the edge of the river and was just so lucky there was a small handhold in a rock I could grab. There is little doubt in my mind that had it not been for that grab, I would have died on that river. Luckily another Kodi raft behind us was able to make it over to where I was and pull me into the raft. Once pulled into the raft, I just wanted to get the nightmare over and get off that dangerous river. Once we cleared the widow maker rapid, they had me transfer back to my family’s raft. We still had a couple of stage 3 rapids to clear and at that point, none of us were in the physical (or mental) state to paddle the raft but somehow made it to the end. We were all relieved to have survived this nightmare and I felt it important to communicate our experience to anyone considering this “adventure”. From our experience, if you are the least bit apprehensive about this trip, do some research before signing your life away. As a healthy person who has completed 8 marathons, I would NOT recommend this trip for young kids (under 14) or anyone with ANY health issues.

This was our families first time white water rafting. We’re from the UP of Michigan. We had Starky for our guide and when I say he was amazing, he was AMAZING!! I suffer from a very severe anxiety disorder and it’s very rare when you find a person who can make you calm and confident about something and he did just that before we got on the river and we all felt very safe. He was so knowledgeable about the river and smart. We had our 82yr old grandma on raft with us and he always made sure she was safe. I would highly recommend Kodi if you’re visiting Colorado and Starky if you get the chance to pick your guide. All our questions were answered quickly. Next time we get the chance to go to CO again we will be coming back!

I don’t work for KODI but I do know the river needs to be flowing so many feet per second, something like 550, most like that time of year the water level and flow will be to low and slow. I hope the that helps. I would recommend to call or email.

what is it like in mid May to late May/
Weather and rafting.
Written January 3, 2015
Macph49,
We usually start to see our runoff start around the mid to late May time frame, so the water levels are usually on the rise, and by late May most all of the rivers we raft are running at good to great levels. The weather.... well I would like to say that its sunny and 80 everyday in May, but that's usually not the case. We can see days in the 80's or we can have snow. Since May is not a super busy time of year for us, we are happy to work with you to pick the nicest day for you and your group to get out on the river. Hope that helps, and we hope to see you on the river this summer!
