The mission of Amara Massage Therapy & Wellness is to provide exceptional, evidence informed massage and wellness services in Fort Collins, CO. Our environment is the perfect fusion of spa and clinic, open to anyone seeking an amazing massage experience. It is our intention to create a physically and emotionally supportive space for our guests. While in our space, we hope guests can explore a new state of being and relaxation that facilitates living a life with less pain and stress outside of our doors. The Amara staff is dedicated to outstanding client care by remaining consistent in the pursuit of science based continuing education and authentic self care practices. As a team we are committed to creating and implementing business practices and protocols that are informed by compassion, inclusion, education, emotional intelligence and sustainability. These values extend to clients, staff, the greater community and the environment that our business impacts.

I was in town for two nights on business and Fort Collins is NOT a town I normally work in, so I was not familiar and likely won’t return anytime soon, But I sure wish it was on my regular work schedule, as I would love to have Ellie as my permanent regular massage therapist. I was able to book a 90 minute deep tissue, Focused massage the day before! She gave appropriate, consistent, deep pressure and checked in at least twice regarding the pressure, which for me was great.... I like to feel like I’ve had a muscle “work-out” the day after the massage!
For your reference: it is in the college, or downtown area and was slightly inconvenient from my hotel. Parking is a bit of a challenge and they are in the basement of the building so locating them was a little bit of a challenge (ALLOW plenty of time to park and locate them). I was about 10 minutes late, but they were all so accommodating. I did recommend them and Ellie to my co-worker who is in Fort Collins on a regular basis.

Amara is a secret underground lair beneath The Armstrong Hotel where some serious magic is doled out! Catie, the owner, scheduled my appointment and suggested Emili based on my request for a deep tissue massage and firm pressure. I don't go to massage for relaxation. I go to work the knots out of my muscles.
Amara is cozy and calm and clean. I chose [complimentary] eucalyptus aromatherapy and settled in under a heated blanket. I like that you're able to customize the massage to your trouble areas. In this case, I elected to have Emili focus on some tight muscles instead of do a whole body treatment. When I left, my stiff neck was erased. Emili will chat as little or as much as you like, and gave me some promising local restaurant recommendations.
On the way out, I chatted with the GM, Devon. Everyone seems to truly enjoy working there and it shines through in their client service. They also offer some great discounts/loyalty programs.
At Emili's recommendation, I took myself upstairs to Mugs Coffee Shop after for an iced coffee and morning glory muffin. Pampering complete!

My wife and I each had a massage. Brittany was my masseuse and I really enjoyed the massage. She listened to me about all my little aches and pains and then she gave me a very relaxing massage.

We went for a husband/wife appointment of relaxation and though the therapists were nice and did a good job, the constant moving of the chairs and noise of the coffee shop over our heads made us tense up - both of us found ourselves wishing the appointment was over about half way through. Additionally, we were contacted three different times in three days to confirm our appointment - I sure didn't feel like an adult having to be "reminded" so many times.
So, unfortunately, neither of us want to return - not relaxing for either of us.

I'm rather picky about where I get any sort of personal care. I like the feel of a business instead of going into someone's home and wondering if their family is going to be walking in on you at any second. Amara not only has a very clean and professional business front, they treat you as a person and make you feel comfortable. Every time I've visited I'm encouraged to relax. I never feel rushed or pushed out for the next client. Gift certificates, online purchases, questions encouraged and a bunch of different types of massages offered. My boyfriend is a big guy, takes a strong hand to work through his knots. I'm small with sensitive skin. Both of us have been very pleased with this establishment. Two pros for me, but might be cons for other people: 1.) Besides the candles, there are no scents really used here. I love that, but some people want the smell of incense, etc. 2.) It is in an underground location, so there isn't a lot of natural lighting and it is a little cooler. Not cold, but cooler.

I have used Amara massage services several times in the past year. All the staff are friendly and kind. Brittany is my massage therapist. She is a very sweet and engaging person. She takes the time to talk about your health, well being and any specific issues you need addressed. She has provided relaxing, deep tissue and targeted massages depending on my current needs. I highly recommend Amara's massage services and suggest looking into the Golden Ticket program is you want to do more than one session.

The location is nestled in Old Town and you descend a set of stairs away from the hustle and bustle of College Ave into a happy and kindness filled retreat. A gift from my wife brought us here for a 90 minute massage. Shelby - my therapist - greeted me with a warm smile and we talked about how I was feeling and what if anything needed special attention during the massage. She was fantastic - I like a deep tissue massage and she had the strength and skill to deliver one of the best messages I have ever had. The experience was so good my wife and I booked another appointment next month. This team will really take good care of you. Enjoy the retreat!
