The Rangers are thieves
May 2021 • Family
I purchased my fishing license, signed my fishing license, paid to register my boat, paid to register my trailer, paid for a parking pass for my truck, paid for a parking pass for my trailer (🙄), and obeyed what seemed like an endless number of “no wake” zones.
The ranger gave me a ticket for driving (wakeless) in a “no engine” zone. I showed him that the no engine bouys were ALL half sunk. It was very difficult to see that they said “no engines”. Any reasonable person would have guessed they were just more “no wake” bouys. Very frustrating for a person who sincerely tries to follow all the rules

Beautiful views.

The drive around the reservoir is breathtaking. The road is elevated high above the city of Fort Collins. Sunrises and sunsets are especially great.

There are sooooo many trails. Unfortunately, the entry fee for this is separate from the state park pass and the national park pass, so we have a ton of passes. But I think the daily pass in $9. I really enjoy doing the hike to the top of Horsetooth rock which is about 7-7.5 mi round trip. It's up for half and down for half (so not rolling). You have the choice of going back the trail route or the service road. Both are nice, but we prefer the trail. It's a great place to watch the sunset. You get a great birds eye view of Fort Collins to the east and have nice visibility of peaks to the west. The tippy top is a bit of a scramble, but you can get fine views with out scrambling up that.

The little side parks around the reservoir are great, too! If it's a nice day though....best get there early.

You can spend 20 minutes here or the entire day.

Someone has to lower entrance fee

Much for scenery, a throng of people always gathered despite the high entrance fee. I guess the charm of the place is still there.

Breath taking View
Oct 2020
This was my first time being on a mountain top. It can be a little bit intimidating and intriguing at the same time. I am so glad I went there. It was such a beautiful and breathtaking view

Beautiful mountain landscape. Free to drive around, you pay to park. Families can picnic, hike, paddle board, water ski.

Wonderful for exploring

Great place to hike far enough away from the city yet close enough to get away. Different places to explore and hike.

Beautiful Vistas

Great spot for picnics, hiking, swimming, mountain bike riding, exploring. Clearwater, albeit rocky terrain, makes for good swimming. Open space offers soft breezes and a lot of nooks and crannies offer privacy if desired.

Nice hikes, worth the climb up to the Horsetooth Mountain.

Well maintained trails with lots to chose from. Flush toilets, water and picnic tables at base. Downside was we had to pay for parking but it was for 24 hour period. We went up to the falls and another day did a sunset hike up to Horsetooth Mountain. The view was spectacular at the top!

Totally awesome hiking and mountain biking - just 15 minutes from Fort Collins. A real "gem" for those who love the outdoors.
