    What a way to relax
My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night here and absolutely loved it! People need to know that it's clothing optional (On Fridays bathing suits are required) and it is a kid friendly area but unless you have mature children, I wouldn't bring kids here. I personally don't want to hear young kids asking questions about body parts. I am a mother of 2 young boys and I wouldn't want to bring them here only because they would be noisy and I believe folks want to relax in a hot spring. We were greeted by a very nice gentleman, Matt, who kept checking on the temperature of the pool (it is one hot spring pool but as you move around it you'll feel the different areas where some parts are hotter than others) and he put a bell out and we could ring it if we needed assistance. We arrived around 4:30 pm and there were 8 other people there. I loved how they had noodles that you could use in the pool so you can easily lounge. There was a beer garden that has a microwave and fresh water jug so you can refill your water bottle to keep hydrated. I loved that outside food and drinks are allowed (no glass) which suited me perfectly to bring dinner and plastic bottled drinks and they have a recycling bin to dispose of plastics and cans as well as other trash. The website is informative where I found all the information so I knew what I was allowed and not allowed to bring as well as to what to expect. No cameras are allowed, which is fine since some people are nude while bathing, but I wish I could have taken a picture of a nice sculpture where you can see Pikes Peak over her shoulder! As evening came, more folks showed up. There are tables and lounge chairs all around so finding a place to put your stuff down was no issue. There are showers and bathrooms on site as well. Over all, I think this is a nice gem in a not often travelled part of the state but we enjoyed the 4 hours we spent there relaxing, meeting new people and high quality of customer service. We will back again soon!

    Springs was great
If I didn't need to use the bathroom or shower area this place was great. It's super secluded. The drive on the dirt road off the highway was interesting but there are signs to follow which made it easier to find. I was interested to see how I would like being in a hot springs in the middle of the desert but it was great! The pool had calcium that you floated around in. There was neat calcium buildup in one of the corners. There's a big tent shelter with tables and a fridge and some shelter around the pool. I wish I could have taken pictures but no pictures/phones allowed inside. I used the pool noodles and just floated. It was quiet and peaceful. Lucy was the lady that showed us around, she was really nice. I would love to go back!

    One more bad review!!!!!
Went on a Saturday and staff told us admission covered us for a two hr soak and if more than 25 people the earlier arrivals would have to leave to accommodate new arrivals. Understanding this we returned the next day rude front desk turned us away and countless others. WTF. We drove 4 hours and got a room for this

AWFUL experience. I have been to over 50 Hot Springs, and this was by far the most rude, incompetent, dumb stuff I have ever interacted with.
They discriminate against single men and will not allow them to enter the property at any time.

They are disrespectful when speaking to you, condescending, and act as if nudity is a big deal at a hot spring. Many hot springs around the world are clothing optional, these idiots need to do some traveling and get with the times.
I will never return to this place again, and I hope somebody turns them in for violating discrimination laws.

The reboot/remodel was worth the wait! First time back since the remodel and wow was it worth it! Interactive staff, clean and relaxing pools. 18+ as well now. We had a wonderful afternoon and we can’t wait to go back and soak. Highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a more natural and non- commercial experience.

I'm on a hot spring tour of Colorado and was shocked to be told that Desert Reef Hot Springs does not allow men to enter the facility on their own:-O WHAT!?!? Is this a swingers' club or a hot spring resort?!?! I've never been told I could not go to a place because of my gender, just feels wrong. I’ve been to 8 other hot springs in Colorado this trip that have not discriminated against me. Class action anybody?

This is now one of my favorite hot springs. I’ve been to quite a few, and this one works the hardest by far to keep a relaxing, therapeutic atmosphere. I’ve been to other springs that are adults only, but this was the first place that never made an effort to keep the areas quiet, I didn’t hear people talking and laughing really loudly. I enjoyed the landscape more than I expected, it had that sort of high desert austere beauty with incredible views of the mountains. Biggest downside is they don’t let you take any pictures! I’m definitely coming back next time I’m in Denver.

My husband and I visited Desert Reef hot springs last Friday (suits required day). We were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. The lady at the front desk was friendly and told us about the pools and conduct. They have plenty of bathroom/showers and were very clean. We tried 3 of the 5 pools and they were all a perfect temperature. Nice mountain view from the largest pool. The grounds are clean and have a paved sidewalk between the pools as well as privacy fencing. The mile or so drive off the main road to the springs is a little bumpy and washboard but it is so worth it. This place is a gem and we will definitely return on a Friday again!

Do not waste your time or your money going to this place. If you don't want a bad review you shouldn't treat customers the way you do. The jerk in front not only disrespects women, he also disrespects disabled veterans, and clearly the racism of an interracial couple was evident. HE BUMS WEED OFF OF PAYING CUSTOMERS. TODAY He refused to honor passes to get back in after he was a jerk back in July and didn't like my review. Tough that you can't handle the truth. I will be contacting a lawyer about the discrimination, and the BBB. MY REVIEW WOULD HAVE CHANGED IF OUR EXPERIENCE TODAY WAS SATISFACTORY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I really love this place. Much more than the one that is nearby in Penrose. The water is nice and hot, it is dark, the ambience is lovely, it never feels dirty. But several times, I have checked to see if they are open, make the drive there, and then it is closed. This is incredibly frustrating and even more disappointing.

The enjoyment you receive from visiting here will be based on who is working. Matt is a fine individual but Ro (the owner and Matt's mother) is just, and there is no other way to say this, an effin b#@%. Before we went there I had a conversation with my daughter about a potentially serious health issue. With the advice and participation of a doc there, we decided on watchful waiting. For that reason, and I have never brought my cell here before, I brought my cell phone in. When I received a notification from my daughter that her situation had worsened I went to an area that no one could see or hear me to help counsel her, knowing that I am not supposed to have a cell phone but putting myself in a position where nobody could hear or see me. Ro aggressively accosted me and even when I described the situation, she said I needed to take it outside. Which I did. But after a few minutes of continuing the conversation (not loudly) IN THE PARKING LOT, RO came out and said that isn't good enough. You either have to talk in your car or leave the premises. At this point, I am not going to be allowed back in because I have the devil's instrument in my hand so I had to climb the hill far enough away so she could neither hear nor see me, necessitating a 20 minute cactus needle extraction later because of course I was also not allowed to go back in to get my sandals.

I get that you have rules but compassion, it's a thing

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. My husband and I had such a great time over there. Indeed, an unforgettable experience. I can’t remember exactly how I came across with this place, but when I saw “clothing optional” I knew I wanted to go there.
It was just perfect, relaxing, and interesting. I loved the idea of being naked in a hot spring. I actually felt pretty comfortable, considering that my first time naked”in public”. It’s like woman empowerment .. super cool!
My husband and I loved the idea that we could bring beer with us. So, we ended up staying there for 3 hours (just because they close at 6pm in Sundays)... and we even made friends. We met this couple, and after soaking we headed straight to a nice restaurant.
Couldnt get any better.
Loved,loved, loved it!!!
It’s worth every dollar... the owner is such a nice lady. I loved everything about this place !!
If I were from the area, I’d definitely have the membership :-)

If your a hot spring nerd like me… skip this entire county. This place and the other one are not special, and here they are rude to boot. Do yourself a favor and head for the mountains. Strawberry or any of the developed ones there really are better. I was so disappointed.
