We were a large group, four adults, and four kids (11, 10, 9, and 9). We've done horse riding in the mountains before, but this was different. They let you control your horses more, the scenery was absolutely stunning, and the streams were flowing with beautiful clear water you got to ride through. I highly recommend the two hour ride, anything more and our bums would have been too sore.

I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed this horse riding experience! Amy and the other guides (on our trip, it was Tigger and Mike) were AMAZING! She is so good with the kiddos! We brought our8 yr old who had only ridden a horse one other time and she and the others put him at ease. He rode a very good horse and so did we!

The scenery was simply breathtaking and beautiful, you just want to take it all in . The horses are gentle and responsive as they know the drill well. You can tell they are well taken care of.

I have been on more than a few horse back rides in my life and with "good" outfits.. good guides and good horses. SO I have never had a BAD experience per se but this experience was SO far beyond "Good". It was amazing!! My son said it was the #1 highlight of his trip and the best experience of his life thus far. He was SO impressed and talked about his horse and the ride constantly on our way back to Breck.

A word of advice.. DEFINITELY bring jeans!! Without them I would have been way more sore (and believe me, even with them, i was sore) and layer if you can. We had a 9:30 am ride so it was a bit cool at first but became warm later. Also bring sunscreen and GOOD sunscreen at that.

Platte Ranch was amazing! We visited while staying in Breckenridge. It was about a 45 min drive south (beautiful drive!). Our kids said it was their favorite experience during our week in the mountains. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and you can sense their genuine love for each of the horses. We had 3 guides for two families of 4. We felt completely safe with our 7 year old daughter on her own horse. And the biggest takeaway from this experience, was that the horses were completely free to move as you want them to. Meaning, if you wanted to trot or move in a different direction, the horse would obey. This is not like a typical horse trail ride where the horses are nose to rear in a chain. During the ride, you cross a couple rivers/creeks, and climb up a hill side to an impressive 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain ranges! The guides stop the group on top of the range and help take group photos with your phones/cameras, and give some history/geography of the area. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for some authentic horseback riding with beautiful scenery and friendly guides!

Everything from booking to goodbye was wonderful. The ranch is huge with a great backdrop of the mountains. We had 8 people on our ride including the 4 of us (two adults and two kids 9&10). There were four guides with us.

This is not a nose to tail ride - they encouraged us to spread out. And while you do go up a little to a large are to trot, you aren’t going up into the mountains. It was perfect for us but it is helpful to have the right expectations.

The horses were great, guides helpful and attentive and informative. It felt like we were their new friends. We will do this on our next trip out here for sure.

We visited Platte Ranch on our Breckenridge vacation. Amy, the owner, is totally professional. Me, my husband, daughter and sister-in-law all had a terrific experience. We have never ridden prior to this trip. We took the morning trip which was fantastic. Amy greeted all of us and remembered all of our names throughout the entire trip. There were a total of seven of us on the trip with four guides. They made sure each one of us were completely comfortable. We went across a creek and up a hill onto a plateau. The horses galloped once on the plateau. It was really cool. We were all able to control our horses and I never felt scared. We went back down toward the ranch and made it across the deeper part of the creek. My daughter was on a horse that usually doesn’t like the creek so Amy had one of the guides switch with her so “she could have the experience.” It was really nice of Amy to do that and my daughter was thrilled. I can’t say enough good about Platte Ranch. We hope to visit Amy again on our next ski vacation in Breck. I think the snow would make it even a more beautiful experience.

Amy is a very gracious owner and we had a memorable experience. Platte Ranch sits in a lovely valley with a beautiful stream running through it and a mountain of pines behind it. You get to experience them all on your ride. They matched us with gentle, well-cared for horses and the guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. They were limiting the number of riders to 10 or less on each trip so it is a very personable experience.

We took our whole family to the Platte riding stables. We have 4 granddaughters (ages 2 1/2-7) and we were 6 adults and everyone was super nice. They taught the oldest how to ride by herself. This was the first time she’s been on a horse. We rode through the valley on the way to the top of the mountain. We saw a bear and lots of elk along the way. Amy and company were great to work with and they showed us an amazing time. We will definitely go back.

If you read a review about how amazing this experience is, it is 100% correct. We spend each fall break in Colorado and this will be a mandatory stop from here on out. Our family of 6 did this from 7 years old to 40’s and we loved every minute of it. Mike and Amy were AMAZING with our kids. They engaged with them in every opportunity. If you want to meet people that seemed to have taken their passions and turned it into a way to make money, they are it. We did a 2 hour ride but I think it was more like 3 hours. They let us ride the horses at any pace we wanted. RECOMMENDED no matter what your comfort level.

The staff at Platte Ranch Stables were great. Tigger and Mike were our guides. This was more than follow the leader for two hours. We went on ‘adventure’ as Tigger said. We travel through open meadows, treescapes, couple of rivers, and opened range. In the open range, you could go as fast as comfortable. The guides were good at giving riding advice. We liked our horses: Polly, Special K and Missy. Our youngest rode Promise but he didn’t take direction well. Overall, it’s worth the money and will stop by for a ride next time in Breckinridge. Thanks to team at Platte Ranch Riding Stables.

I honestly cannot say enough about our experience! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and well worth the beautiful drive from Breckenridge! Amy was amazing and was very personable. She and the staff made everyone's safety a priority. We were in a small group and were guided at a safe pace. PLATTE RANCH is the best of the best! I am the type of person who researches everything and we could not be more pleased with our experience! This place is a hidden gem!
