This truly is a 5-star, once-in-a-lifetime experience from beginning to end. First, THE SCENERY. The scenery you're ziplining through (one line goes through Aspen trees!), having lunch at, riding the train through is all truly incredibly gorgeous and the best scenes we saw over our entire week trip to Colorado. The staff was incredibly helpful, kind and educated on how to operate all lines. Lunch was gourmet and delicious. Everything felt super safe. DO NOT SKIP this. It was the highlight of our trip and we can't wait to come back!

Soaring Colorado was an exceptional experience. I’ll note some specifics, but the staff and facility were top-notch. The day started meeting the train at the Rockwood Station. Jessie met our group and welcomed us, providing direction to the train and where to take in the best views (from the back of the train facing forward, the right side views the river first, then the train crosses a bridge and the left side becomes more scenic). She was our initial tour guide and commented on points of interest along the way (about a 40 minute train ride). Although there was some haze in the air from wildfire smoke, the views were awesome as we travelled north to the resort/club house. We were greeted by the staff waiting outside the clubhouse as the train arrived. Everyone was friendly and patient as they had us complete the formalities (waiver & payment). There are lockers to store your belongings (you can bring an extra layer and stow it safely). There is also no cell phone service on the course so if your phone is your camera, use “airplane mode” to save battery life. I also recommend a case or holder with a lanyard or wrist strap. Nick, Chase and Jessie were our guides for the day. They started as educators and coaches when we arrived and became friends by lunch time. They were very informative about the history of the resort and the zip lines. They went over some safety rules and coached us before our first flight. The first half of the day was mostly scenic spans through the trees. Each span was its own thrill-ride. Our lunch was served indoors due to intermittent rain that started mid-morning. The food was excellent. We were fortunate that the staff joined us in the dining area and gave us additional history on the resort including some of the famous guests who had been there. The zip lining after lunch was the best part… multiple spans over the Animas river. Although it was raining, the scenery and thrill of soaring over the water weren’t diminished. There is some hiking/climbing involved between several spans, but that was scenic too. We wrapped our day with the longest span over the Animas river and hot chocolate back at the clubhouse. The train was waiting for our ride back to Rockwood. Being this was near the end of the soaring season, operations had winded down a bit but the effort the staff put into our experience was still 100%. On the train ride back, they shared how well the owners treat the staff at Soaring. It is obvious that when owners value their staff, the staff value their clients. A huge thank you to all the staff at Soaring for a memorable day. Oh, and this was my first zip lining experience.

My husband and I did the zip lining with my brother and sister-i n-law. WE HAD A BLAST. This was their 2nd time and our first. The staff was A++, they made sure EVERYONE in the group was having a great time. The forest was beautiful and no trees were harmed. Occasionally, we had a learning moment about the trees and bones from one of the staff members. The snack was awesome and lunch even better. We took the train ride from the Rockwood pickup and it was a very scenic and enjoyable trip. We felt very safe while zip-lining. Definitely would do this again.

You have an option to take the narrow gage rail road or helicopter to the lodge where you begin and end your zip line experience. The view from the rail is spectacular, but takes a long time. We had ridden the rail to Silverton long ago and chose the helicopter. It was a beautiful new helicopter. It took 10-15 minutes to get there soaring through incredible vistas. I would definitely choose the helicopter! It can seat the pilot and three passengers. If there are more, they shuttle you back and forth. If you are adventurous and want to flip upside down, I recommend that you bring or buy those things that attach to your glasses and go around your neck so your glasses don’t fall off. They recommend that you don’t bring a cell phone but I had mine secured in my pocket and it was fine. All of our Rangers were highly intelligent, extremely well trained, funny, kind, and gave the best service of any tour I have ever experienced. Sam, Chase, Julian, Nick and Jasmine added so much to our experience. You are put in a harness, and given excellent instructions. You then begin on 5 zip lines that are short. The entire time you are in the trees you are clipped onto secure cables. The Rangers handle everything. If you are uncomfortable you can stop after the first 5. My wife got to the first zip line (we are 61) and got nervous and decided not to try any zip line. She was treated very kindly, and followed us on the ground. Some in our group were nervous and one young man never put on a harness. Everyone else had an incredible time. After a few zip lines the Rangers started to ask if anyone wanted to do tricks. It was a blast going upside down, spinning, doing the Star , the Buddha (thanks Chase), and other fun tricks. If you just wanted to enjoy the incredible scenery just zipping over the river without any tricks, that was fine too. You stop for a snack, a wonderful lunch (delicious, thanks Yancey), and periodically interesting Nature talks by Jasmine. The second part of the zip line after lunch does involve some rigorous uphill hiking. It was so worth it. This is a “must do”!

AMAZING experience!!! What a fun-filled day with our awesome guides: John Roy, Nick and Phil. I was SUPER nervous about being hoisted 80 feet in the air as I am very afraid of heights! But the guides got me thru every step of the way. Our entire family of 5 had a great time!! It's worth every penny!
