We had a deer run right by us when we got there.

We went into the hatchery and fed the fish, we also went into the wildlife museum and very much liked it. Great for kids of all ages. The river walk is great also.

We read about the hatchery and plugged in to google maps. Hard to find the street as there is no street sign just a sign to the hatchery. Very nice. Lady there was very nice and told us about the hatchery. Watched the movie about the service they do. We then feed the fish. They seem to be trained like... More

Kids had a great time feeding the fish and see the animals in the museum. It was a great way to spend an hour or so. There is also the river near by and we took a stroll across the bridge.

The group loved seeing the animals native to this area. Highlight was feeding the fish in the "holding areas". Must see activity and FREE! There is a small fee for the fish food, but well worth the excitement in the eyes of the kiddos!

Killer setting down by the river, get your license here, and see a very neat old building that it is in.

This place was a fun little visit. There is a tiny museum with stuffed animals to look at and you can look at all the outdoor troughs of trout. Bring quarters so you can feed the trout if you want to! Go on a good weather day since the exciting stuff is outside!

This is another "must visit" hidden secret in Durango. Drop off the road and go back in time as you drive through the trees and survey the peaceful compound. Nestled next to the river and narrow gauge railroad tracks, this vintage series of buildings will take you back decades. Grab some fish food and stroll between the races of water... More

This is a great place to spend some time with little ones. Bring quarters so you can purchase lots of fish food for the kids to throw to the fish.

The museum had interesting animal figures and pelts, and clean restrooms. Hatchery was walkable and kids can roam free. By the front door they have an area where the kids could jump and see what animal jumps the same distance - that was my grandchildren's favorite part!

Very nice break from the drive. Free and informative. Kids loved the fish and all the animals on exhibit. We would definitely visit again!
