Our 4 HOUR RAFTING TRIP is very popular and includes a full lunch in the price! We also offer a RAFTING and ZIPLINE PACKAGE at a great discount. This package is one of our most popular activities. You can have an all day adventure including a 4 hour Raft Trip, a Full Lunch, and a 2 hour Zipline Tour all included in the price. In addition to our guided trips, we offer several water rentals to enjoy on your own: INFLATABLE KAYAKS, STAND-UP PADDLE BOARDS, and RIVER TUBES. We booked a family kayak trip in late July. Ben was our guide and we had a blast! He was very knowledgeable about the river and our surroundings. I would highly recommend Southwest Raft & Jeep based on their skill and experience to keep you and your family safe on the river. All the folks there we just exceptional including Vonda our bus driver! What a sweetheart!

My son wanted to go rafting during our trip out west, so we decided to go in Durango while we were visiting Fort Lewis College. Our guide, Ben, was a student there and gave us lots of info about the college as well as a great rafting trip. The water was still pretty cold, so we rented wetsuits and it was the best $12 I ever spent. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing the cliff swallows nesting under all the bridges. I also liked that a hot lunch was included -- very tasty and much better than the cold cuts on a rock I've had on rafting trips elsewhere. Overall, our trip with Ben and Lawrence was very enjoyable and I would absolutely recommend this company.

A wonderful experience. Safety was very important and enforced strongly. Our tour guide was very skilled and always had total control of the raft. Just the right amount of adventure. Not to a point of recklessness but enough to make you feel that you had experienced some challenges. Did the 4 hour tour with lunch at Serious Texas Barbeque. Excellent meal. Will definitely do it again when in the area.

The people that work at Southwest Raft & Jeep from the Front Desk to the Bus Driver and guide were great. We felt welcomed and well taken care of. Our guide Clair was great! Our family had a blast. Southwest Raft and Jeep captured our raft trip with great photographs that we will cherish for memories tell next time. We highly recommend Southwest Raft and Jeep for your next Rafting trip. As soon as we got out of the raft the wife said I want to go again! We will be back!

We had a group of 38 participate for a family reunion, ranging in age from 5 to 55. All had a great time, even the teenagers. The guides made it a fun trip for all ages. For many, this was the highlight of the 5-day reunion. Lunch was much better than expected, the guides were friendly and knowledgeable, and there was a great balance between fun, excitement, and safety (we were never worried about our little ones and the teens were thoroughly entertained). I would highly recommend Southwest Raft and Jeep, and if we do return to the Durango area, we will definitely book additional adventures with them.

It was our Littles (10yo twins and 11yo) first time rafting. Kyle and team made the experience so fun and comfortable, they’re already asking to raft bigger rapids next time! Thank you!

The guides were super friendly and knowledgeable. Most of them were from local, so they had a lot of knowledge about the local history as well. Had fun listening to them introducing Durango and its history during our trip. We had a group of 26 and all had a blast. The fee was very reasonably priced (rafting and water shoe renting). They also took lots of good pictures of us doing the rafting. Will definitely book with them for our next trip to Durango. Highly recommend!

Our raft guide, Tyler, was great! He shared a lot of information about the sights and history of Durango and made the whole trip a blast!
Tyler's energy and humor were contagious and added to the overall fun of the trip.
I can't thank Tyler enough for the fantastic time we had. If you're looking for a raft guide who's both knowledgeable and knows how to have a blast, Tyler is your guy! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars all the way!
Thanks again, Tyler!

First time rafting trip for our family of 5 (kids ages 5-8). First thing I noticed was how much more efficient in prepping our rafts for launch our Southwest crew was compared to other companies getting their rafts ready. Our guide Anthony did an outstanding job keeping the kids engaged and letting them be a part of the experience. We had an absolute blast and all of our kids said it is the best part of our trip (the previous favorite was hiking the Narrows in Zion). Our oldest was a little apprehensive but by the end was hoping for more rapids! Lunch was an excellent treat and allowed us to sample Serious Texas BBQ which we were planning on sampling anyways. Thank you again Anthony for a great trip!

In Durango, a great experience was rafting the Animas. All the guides worked very well together, were a LOT of fun and let anyone on the trip swim down some rapids if they’d like. There was a special needs young man in our group and all the guides did a great job engaging him throughout our 4 hour trip. Part of the trip was a Delicious! meal at Serious Texas BBQ at the end. Organized, professional, and fun!!

Can the rafting experience be experienced
mid June and late August early September?
Written March 5, 2017
The rafting season generally runs from the beginning of May to mid August. You can still raft in late August and early September, but this is usually when we have lower water levels. The water levels vary during the season. Generally the highest levels are during May and June and the lower levels are in August and September depending on rainfall. You can always call before you come to get an update on the water level status.
