La Plata Canyon Jeep Tours from Durango

58 reviews
The forested mountains, waterfalls, and wildflower valleys of La Plata Canyon lie just west of Durango. On this tour, venture off-road in an open-top Jeep and enjoy spectacular views as you explore the wild landscapes. Stop at scenic lookout points along the way, visit the abandoned mining town of La Plata City, and enjoy a thrilling drive along the Kennebec Pass at 12,000 feet (3,658 meters).

I ordered the mushroom burger which was pretty good, you could taste the fresh meat. I was shocked at the price, over $15 for a burger (no fries, pickles, onion, etc) just meat and some mushrooms. The scenery was awesome but not sure the food was with the price.

This is a great place to eat. Great burgers and local beer. We set outside with a beautiful view of the mountains . If you dont eat meat there is a veggie burger.

Had no idea what we would find. Found a gold mine! We had the Signature Burger. Oh my gosh. Best I have eaten. Carmel onions were perfect and stacked high. Baked goods are made there and yummy. Service was friendly. Next door is their market. Had fun shopping Don't miss when in Durango.

Based on word of mouth, my husband and I tried James Ranch Grill for lunch and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and very fresh. We both had the green chile pico burger which was extraordinary especially with the fresh Belmont cheese and lime crema. The fingerling fries were great as well. The only reason for the four stars versus five stars was the beverage selection. Very few selections for someone who does not want sugary drink. Selected the unsweetened herbal ice tea and was told Stevia sweetener was available, but it was not.

I can't recommend this place enough. There is good reason they are rated best burgers in the Durango area. This meat comes from some happy cows. And the outdoor picnic tables spread out around the grounds are lovely. The view is fantastic. The beer selection (we had beer from the Ska brewing Co) was great. Our grandson loved petting the goats and running around. You order and pick up at window. They also have a nice market. Fresh farm to table food - fabulous fries too.
