We went in Aug so the water was slow but perfect for us as we wanted a low key tour. Justin did a fantastic job paddling, maneuvered through rocks, did a few 360s , and took us to the Surf Wave near Santa Rita park which we loved!!

You can hike or bike along the Animas river for miles in any direction. There are parks and vistas and exits to explore. The trail is paved and you will meet many other travelers along the way.

The Animas River runs right through Durango. This is one of SW Colorado's best features. Loved walking through town along the river. Well maintained, it is a lovely walk and fun to watch all the rafters.

This is nice stroll along the river. There is a nice park area to picnic or find a pretty spot along the river. Bathrooms are conveniently located at the park.

This path is very easy. It follows the river and some of the railroad. I take part of it everyday to work on my bike. It is very easy. Very beautiful.

Just one of the best city river walks you could ask for! Started at Rotary Park and headed north to the fish hatchery, then double back across the river and headed south where we crossed the river to the western side then after several small parks crossed back to the eastern side. Watched several inflatable boats going downstream and some... More

Nice walk through town but unless you need the extra exercise the walk south out of town runs along the highway. Noise, fumes, water treatment plant...ugh

We love this trail for a nice walk after a night out in town. It is easy to access all along the trail. We also love it for an easy family bike ride. The river is beautiful at any season.

I don't know where we parked and entered the path except to say we exited right by the movie theatre and a new LaQuinta being built. There was free parking along a street and then we walked down a small slope to the path. We took a camera and tripod and took a bunch of family photos with the dogs.... More

We picked up the trail off of College Ave and walked the trail for a couple of miles. It is a wide paved trail that follows the river and allows you to cross the river at several points along the way. It offers many opportunities to get off the trail to go to rivers edge. Plenty of shade.
