We are very lucky to have this beautiful trail. It has so many access areas, passes through lovely scenery, and makes it easy to exercise and have coffee, a snack, or a meal; visit the public library, the fish hatchery, the skateboard park, the BMX park, the Children's Museum, shop, or keep an appointment with your hair stylist, lawyer, or... I was deeply saddened to see the condition of the river after the EPA spill this past year. you can see the color on the rocks looks brownish green which was never the case in past years. The ice had a greenish color to it also and just looked bad. I don't know why the EPA hasn't cleaned up this... More

This is one of the best river trails. The clean clear water is full of fish and there is a local hatchery on this river. The EPA has done extensive testing on this river and found the water quality is good.

We love this river trail - our dogs really enjoy it as well. We've also biked the trail which was a lot of fun.

We found this by accident and followed it for a long ways . Very calming walk. The river is beautiful . We watched fishermen , a kayaker and many people walking , jogging , and biking along the trail . The trail goes for miles but you can choose how far you actually walk . Once out of town, the... A visit to historic Durango can only be enhanced by a walk or bike ride on the Animas river trail. Pristine mountain views, gold medal waters and abundant wildlife viewing is a common site amongst the locals who frequent the trial. The animas trail practically encompasses the entire area and is a work in progress, the trail is kept in... More

I stayed at the Double Tree in Durango and discovered this trail on the backside of the hotel. We hiked over six miles along the river on a concrete trail.

So easy to go for miles on this beautiful and well maintained trail. I felt safe and inspired by the sites. I did get interrupted a few times because I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of river side sites uncommon to Tucson, AZ.

My husband and I walked about 6 miles along the river on the trail and if we weren't hungry we would have gone farther. It was so pleasant. Exercise that didn't feel like it.
