The admission fee was not bad (21.00 for two adults and a six year old). The place was great for hands on experience. This is the Bad: Many of the exhibits are hands on and you can make items ,however, the items were not stocked so over half of the exhibits we could not do. Another horrible encounter was there was a bloody small chick with its face in the bedding (it was obvious it was not going to make it) crying for help and it was left for young children to witness...shame on you! Now, set those two bad vibes apart the place would be great for children to roam so I do not have to chase a six year old around.

This is a science discovery attraction. Hands on activities for small children. Would not recommend children under 7 or over 12. Pricy especially for adults since all activities are for children.

We came here because we thought it was the history museum (obvious ignorance at work). When we realized our mistake, we thought "What the heck," and paid the admission, which was sort of steep.

It's really interesting how the museum is in the old Durango power station. It's also cool how they sell refreshments.

We explored and the vacuum tubes and hankies activity was really fun, and so were the bottle cars and rockets. The sad part was, in all the activities where you have to build things, all the materials were missing. It was really small, too, and there was virtually nothing to do or read in the power station exhibit.

It was SOO COOL how they had live chicks in there! Baby chickens! So cute! Too bad we didn't get to hold them.

The little machine near the door, try not to get interested in it (which is HARD), because you'll get sucked into it and you could spend HOURS watching that thing go!

I would recommend children 4-9 to go, preferably in parties or groups. You should also call ahead to make sure they have people ready to give you a tour and all the materials to be ready.

Overall, this was a pretty cool museum.

According to their Facebook page, Powerhouse is no longer open for business. Such a shame because we were looking forward to spending a few hours there this week.

Visited this location with my wife and 8-year-old daughter. While this science center is geared mostly for kids between the ages of 3 and 10, my wife and I had almost as much fun as our daughter did. There are numerous different exhibits and activities available, most of which are hands-on / interactive. It’s a great way for young minds to explore and learn firsthand.

We spent almost 2½ hours there on a weekday morning before having to leave for lunch. Admission to the science center provided a day pass, which allowed us to go back after lunch (i.e., daughter insisted that she wanted to do more “experiments” before we went home). Spent another ~1½ hours that afternoon revisiting some of our favorite aspects of the place.

Staff working that day were very helpful and friendly. They were also very knowledgeable about their various exhibits as well as scientific matters in general. Quick to offer a helping hand to steer kids (and adults) in the proper directions for each of the activities without being interruptive or heavy-handed.

Ive taken my granddaughters to many science musuems around the country and this one was not very impressive, kinda small and not much to see and the interactive stuff could not hold the attention of the girls for any time at all.

Two adults and 2 children aged 9 and 2. Kids enjoyed it and had fun for a 90 minute time period. Great way to fill a little time out out of the sun and have the children stay busy plus play with some of the exhibits.

The Powerhouse Science Center is a great place to learn. The educators there can tell you so much about the town and show you how they use the water, and electricity to help out the town. They have upgraded and have gotten more in the Science Center for people to see and learn about.

During a family visit we took our 3 year old granddaughter to the Science Center. She loved the area where she could play doctor with many large stuffed animals. She enjoyed climbing the play structure and looking at the bee habitat. I enjoyed the topo sand table. There are many other interesting things to see and do but this is all we had time for.

This is a very small museum and the majority of exhibits are designed for small kids. The staff were very friendly. But, it wasn't what we were expecting as I was with my 24 year old son.
