This is a great place to enjoy the mountains and all the different scenery. It is about 25 miles from Durango.

Great walks and bike trails, watch a murrat or bird try to sneak some of your lunch if you sit in a field long enough. Some family and kids' activities are available too for burning off some of the little ones energy after acclimating to the altitude. See the Milky Way and various magnitude of stars in the evening. Occasionally,... More

Fun being had by all. The resort offers plenty to do on the plaza for all ages. If you are adventurous take on mountain biking or just hike the many trails. Perfect skiing in the winter especially staying at Edelweiss Condos.

Why does Durango Mountain Resort have a new name? Purgatory got a new owner, and high speed lift and expert ski terrain improvements over the past 1.5 years. Disclosure before reading why we love the mountain, we've owned private rentals by owner at Purg since 2008 when it was still Durango Mountain Resort. This is an unbiased opinion of why... More

Took the family to the resort to ride the slide and site see. Had fun although the attractions are a bit over priced. We still had fun. But it would have been nice to do more for the amount paid out.

We went to Purgatory hoping that we would be able to avail ourselves of the non-snow activities there. Alas, it was Wednesday and everything was closed tight. Even the places with "Open" signs were closed. So, I've been through Purgatory with nothing to show for it.

Most ski resorts don't have much to offer in the off ski season with the exception of maybe a chair lift ride and some hiking trailers to explore. Well Purgatory is different. In addition to the chair lift, the resort also offers its visitors about eight different trails to hike and/or mountain bike, ranging in difficulty doom easy to difficult... More

It's expensive to do any of the family activities, but it's a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. We spent time doing the alpine slide, but didn't wait to pay for anything else since the prices were way too high!
