About
We will show you how to ride one of our Polaris snowmobiles and send you out with one of our mountain guides. We have the most variety to offer with 35,000 acres of terrain, over 75 miles of trail, plus our own trail grooming equipment. There is a lot to choose from: meadow play grounds, old mine sites, stage coach trails, mountain passes, scenic overlooks, old log cabins, or just sight seeing and playing in the snow. Most importantly we will have fun - that's our specialty.

From the moment we arrived, everybody at Snowmobile Adventures did an excellent job making us feel welcome, excited and safe. The adventure was a blast and the guide took extra care to make sure everybody had a great time including our 10 and 12 year old grandsons.

The initial booking process was easy and completing all the paperwork online ahead of time was very convenient.

The adventure was as thrilling as it was beautiful - we booked a 3 hour private tour for 5 people. Everyone in our group said it was a top 10 lifetime experience! We had Chris as our guide and he was SO FUN, hilarious + excellent picture taker, & very helpful with our most timid driver (he also does river guides in summer I believe).

I'd highly recommend the 3 hour private tour so you can really enjoy the back country views and enjoy the different trails. 10 out of 10.

We highly recommend doing this snowmobile excursion! We had a group (5 adults and 2 kids - 9 and 7 yrs old) and we did the 2 hr excursion. Everyone was so incredibly nice and helpful right from the get go of getting our helmets and making sure we were all set with our goggles etc. Miles was our guide and he was the best! He did a thorough safety explanation and while on the tour - we made a few stops and he told us really interesting and informative info about the area and mountains etc. He was so great with our daughters and just had an overall amazing attitude! We were so lucky to have him and it was the perfect way to spend Christmas- snowmobiling in the gorgeous mountains!

Mike the guide was excellent and the scenery was also great, but our mixed group of 12 sleds kept getting separated so we always had to stop and wait for them and a few times Mike the guide had to go back and find the rest of the group. We never got over 30 mph except for the 5 minutes that we got to do the oval track in the meadow. We would have had more time but the entire group paid the price for having a couple of sleds that couldn't keep up with us. Since it was the 2:30 ride, there was not another group after us so I feel we should not have been cheated the "run wild" time in the meadow because of one or two drivers that couldn't keep up.

Hey there ! We are glad that you enjoyed Mike and the scenery . Sorry that you felt cheated on your tour. Our tours cap out at 7 snowmobiles per guide unless a big group requests to ride together. Next time maybe split the group into advanced / mellow riders . We also offer Private tours for people who want to ride at their skill level . Thanks for riding with us !

Awesome and very worthwhile experience. The snowmobiles were in tip top condition. Bella Ben lead us on a private tour thru the most beautiful San Juan Forest trails up to a spectacular 12000 ft. I’d not only recommend it, but plan on returning myself.

JJ was an AMAZING guide and made us feel safe and comfortable as newbie snowmobile riders. He was very knowledge, patient, and gladly offered to take family photos for us at every stop!
The entire tour took about 2 hours. We started at Purgatory resort and went up the mountain, through forests, admiring beautiful scenery along the way. We stopped about every 15 minutes to walk around, water break, take photos. (By the way, bring a small water bottle that will stay put and not fall out) every stop offered amazing views but the views at the very top were spectacular just as JJ said they would be.
Definitely worth every penny. I would strongly recommend this tour if you want to have fun, get some awesome photos, and capture an instagram-worthy panoramic view of beautiful Durango!

We had an absolute blast on our 2 hour tour. Guide was very friendly and explained all the operating procedures and safety aspects thoroughly. The ride up, in the meadow, and down was awesome for our family of 4 which included two teens ages 17 (driver of his own snowmobile ) and 15 (rider). None of us had ridden a snowmobile before and had no trouble. The views were amazing. Highly recommend! Be sure to arrive early as parking at the resort fills up quickly and you may find yourself having to walk or shuttle to the snowmobile cabin.

My father and I had an amazing time during this snowmobile tour. The tour guide was very helpful with the sleds and he had some historical and geographic knowledge of the area which added to the experience. He was super kind and willing to assist with the needs of our whole group. The machines themselves were very capable and navigate the mountain with ease and were a blast to ride. The views in Purgatory are unmatched and we’re the best part of our vacation.

So much fun & breath taking views. Our guide J.J. was a lot of fun & very knowledgeable about the area. He pointed out lots of cool things like some fresh moose tracks, a fresh water spring, & an old abandoned cabin from 1902. We highly recommend these guys to anyone interested in snowmobiling. They're awesome!

This was the first time we tried snowmobiling and we had a blast doing it. The company treated the customers well and did the right amount of briefing to get you up to speed operating the snowmobiles correctly. The course was challenging enough to make the ride experience a memorable one and brought us to high elevation parts of the area with breathtaking views. Our guide, JJ, was humorous and great at taking care his herd and explaining what to see in the surriunding path. Overall, we have a very enjoyable snowmobile experience.
