About
The RockSalt Spa is Denver's first salt therapy spa, scientifically known as Halotherapy. RockSalt Spa is a drug free, complementary alternative therapy, which may accelerate healing and improve overall wellness and whole body balance for some clients. This therapy creates a negative ion environment which is what we experience at a beach, waterfall or in the mountains. Benefits vary but have been reported to treat snoring, asthma, skin disorders, cystic fibrosis, allergies, bronchitis, ear infections, sinus infections and the common cold/flu symptoms.

I honestly had no intention of having a salt-session. I had never heard of this kind of Spa before. I happened to be in the area waiting for a friend and, to kill some time, I decided to see what in the heck this place was all about. The employees were so warm and welcoming, and I don't think I have ever felt such a calming, uplifting, and very obvious vibe.... or energy (literally) in my entire life.
I unexpectedly (and reluctantly) tried a session (only because I felt obligated to since I took up their time just to be nosy). I was not in a state of mind to just "sit" for 45 min., especially since I didn't really believe that holistic-type therapies are really effective.
So, here's my RockSalt experience:
Within a few minutes into the session, my body felt as if it was waking up/coming alive on the inside (most notably in my legs). It felt invigorating and relaxing at the same time! Not sure how to explain it, but it was fantastic. The 45 min absolutely flew by.
When I was finished, I was asked if I noticed a difference in my respiratory system (I forgot the other questions I was asked), and I answered honestly by saying, "I''m not sure". I honestly couldn't tell if had an effect on my lungs/nasal passages. All I know is that I felt better from head-to-toe. I couldn't put it into words.... I just felt mentally and physically better in a subtle, yet noticeable, way. From the moment I walked out of the room I knew I would be coming back regularly. But, that's not all..... Later that afternoon when I was at work, and back to my normal routine, I noticed a MAJOR difference in my mood! There was a HUGE shift in my attitude! I was at work and actually enjoying it! I felt happy.... for no reason whatsoever. Just happiness and contentment that I cannot remember ever feeling since having this job. The normal irritations/frustrations that I deal with daily at work, were not getting to me in the slightest.... actually they suddenly weren't even irritating or frustrating! Let's just say that I am now a RockSalt junkie. :)
I raved about the place to my dad so many times that even HE went to try it out...which surprised me (picture a man in his late 60's.... Vietnam Vet..... worked in the construction industry all his life.... etc.).
He said he fell asleep, and can't remember ever having such a deep, relaxing, nap in his life (keep in mind that this is a man who has taken a daily nap for as long as I can remember).
He actually brings it up quite often, almost as if it still surprises him that he experienced such an incredibly sound sleep. He says he is definitely going to go back for another session in the near future.

Halotherapy is a new way to improve your respiratory health. There are some indications that breathing it helps clear congestion and irritation, as well as some other possible benefits. Another major benefit of visiting here is relaxing. They have 2 different rooms (one quiet only and one "active" for kids and families and yoga and more to come). We have enjoyed the relaxation of being in the quiet room. While we generally try to use our time productively (reading, etc.), the room generally relaxes us to the point of napping for the 45 minute session. While I don't notice huge strides in my respiration, I do sleep better the next few nights, and my wife has been clearing stuff out in the mornings afterwards (which is gross, but good!). Very relaxing, and the owner couldn't be more friendly and accomodating.
Keep in mind that you might not notice a huge change that day, and that a few visits might be needed to notice more improvement.

After the first session my breathing improved so much I did not need my inhaler for days! It is very relaxing and does WONDERS for my asthma and sinus issues! The atmosphere is positive and peaceful, the treatments are more than affordable and I am a single mother! I can tell you, you won't be dissapointed and will breathe better after visiting RockSalt Spa!

This is a holistic approach to de-tox your lungs, etc. There are SO many chemicals in western medicine, our liver can't catch a break. This rock salt spa is a place for out-of-the-box thinkers can go to help their health. Holistic medicine requires patience, and taking YOUR health into your responsibility. Not this "I need instant gratification attitude" a lot of people have with medicine. You need to be patient and understand your body. Let go, and re-think. This place is a good start.
