12th Night - Do Not Miss This!
Nov 2019
As I looked about the 'theater in a circle' seating, noting the souls who had braved Denver's weather Tuesday night I wondered, 'What joins us, as different as we all are, in this place, to do this thing?'. Two hours later I knew the answer: Great Art. We are all separate universes really, each of us; but Great Art can, by the conceived and intentional effort of great writing, great staging and especially great acting, wrest us from our separateness and join us in a single vast mind, in a single moment in time, to share an understanding, a laugh, a guffaw, a puzzlement and most especially 'awe'. From Viola's (Mehry Eslaminia) opening soliloquy, robust in its authenticity, through the shared metanoia of Olivia's (Krystel Lucas) awakening from her sadness all of us in the audience became part of the troupe, part of the story, part of the grand understanding. The performances by the legendary cast were rowdy, irascible, impertinent, and, at the same time, through the perfection of their personal transformation of themselves into living canvas, trans-formative. A 500 year old story, shared anew, every bit as amusing, informing, entertaining and elevating now as it has been. If you are in Denver between now and Dec 22nd, and you wish to see real theater the way it is performed in NYC and at the Globe - then you must try to see 12th Night at the Stage (Denver Center Theatre Company). You will cry from laughing, you be shocked at the context of famous lines you have heard all your life, and you will be more, when you leave, than when you arrived; this I guarantee!

Phantom of the Opera
Nov 2019 • Family
This show last night was the worst show we have ever seen at the Buell Theatre. They changed up all the sets and the staging. Derrick Davis as the Phantom was all wrong.. His voice very week.. Just a sad disappointment all around. I realy wanted to leave after about the first five minutes... I don’t know what they were thinking.

Sweat at the Space Theater
Apr 2019 • Couples
Say the play Sweat at the Space Theater. The Space Theater is a intimate theater in the round. Nice seating where you can see from any area. The put on a great play and did a top notch job. Just steps from 16th right in down town Denver. We will return for a play or musical in the future.

Christmas Carol
Dec 2018 • Couples
This was the first time we had seen the actual Theatre Company at the Stage Theatre. They performed their yearly Christmas play, The Christmas Carol.

It was wonderful. The singing, dancing, and the acting was great. We had seats that allowed us to see pretty much all of the stage other than one little corner.

The seats were a little on the old side and the gentleman sitting beside me decided that my seat must have been his as well since he kept pushing over, but that is not ones real problem than mine.

We will definitely look into another play in the near future.

Aladdin was amazing
Apr 2018 • Family
Took my 12 yr old niece to see Aladdin at the Buell Theatre this past weekend. Had an amazing time. There is not a bad seat in the theatre. Do be aware of the new security measures and plan to get there early. Bags can only be 12x12x12 and metal detectors. There are outside balconies to go on at each level during intermission that have a good view of downtown Denver and allow you to get fresh air without dealing with smoke as they are smoke free.

Classy

Went to Phantom of the Opera at Buell. The theatre is so pretty and has cool industrial looking box seats. The house was packed and everyone was dresses so nice. The whole art/downtown area is so neat. Definitely add it to your itinerary. 😊

Another stimulating must see play from the Denver Center Theatre Company. I love the way some of these plays make us look at life from a different perspective

Wicked
Jun 2015 • Friends
Saw Wicked and loved it. I really like the fact that you can order your intermission drinks a head of time and they have them waiting for you at intermission. For such a large theater ... most all of the seats are good.

Wicked was great
Jun 2015 • Solo
My first visit was to see Wicked nice seats. Some seats seemed to have obstructed view a little more that other stages, but it was a great production with good sound. Easy to get to location from the downtown hotels.
