When we first moved to Denver, in 1981, Denver Union Station was just a lovely, historic, old building. Not much was happening there, except at the eastern (well, sort of, as this section of “Downtown Denver” is laid out at about a 45 degree angle,...More
I live in downtown Denver not far from Union Station, and watched eagerly as the multi-year restoration project took shape. The result is truly amazing. The station still functions as a train station (with a light rail line to the airport), but also contains great...More
Denver Union Station is full of eateries and unique shops. I wish I could have had more time there because it’s larger inside than you’d expect. Lots of hustle and bustle but it’s got a happy atmosphere.
Union Station was great! A must stop while in Denver. James Beard award winning restaurant....interesting items to purchase. It was packed! A lovely bar, a deli, a bakery, a bookstore....and all amongst the travelers waiting for the train....great atmosphere...loved it here.

Everything is rather compact and flat, so you shouldnt have too much trouble making your connection. I cant speak for the light rail, but Amtrak has Red Cap service and from my experience on the East Coast, staff are kind and considerate to guests with mobility issues.
As for tickets, download them onto your mobile device and set the screen to bright, and there should be no trouble at all.
