A very well designed station sympathetically restored. Plenty of good food and beverage options. Train to airport is so easy and cheap.

Human waste in the area outside. Drug users lingering around the establishment. Guards at the restrooms asking for your receipt to use facility. Not a welcoming environment.

When the homeless outnumber the paying customers 2:1, you don't feel safe. Had a nice meal with nice staff and a nice vibe. However the constant and never ending parade of lost souls is too much to ignore.

The final straw was being shoved by a security guard when attempting to use the public restroom.

PERFECT EXCEPT FOR ONE DEFINING ISSUE. We arrived somewhat early for our 7:30 pm train to the airport in order to take in the experience of seeing Union Station. I had to use the bathroom and discovered that armed security was stopping people (homeless) from entering the bathrooms. I was asked "What are you doing here?" by two large, armed security personnel. I indicated I was waiting for a train and was let through. Now, I looked as much of a tourist as one can look, complete with a camera around my neck. Upon needing to use the bathroom again about two hours later, I walked up and once again was asked "What are you doing here? I expected this and replied the same to which I was then asked if it was the Amtrak train. I indicated no, it was the train to the airport. They roughly told me that they no longer serviced the "RTD" only Amtrak or if I was a patron. We were planning on eating there anyway before getting on the train but I was forced to either lie (which I don't do) or promptly go buy something in order to use the bathroom! Now, Denver is experiencing quite a problem with homeless and all public bathrooms and sitting areas including grassy areas are closed and fenced off. However, if you are a patron of the Denver train system and waiting inside the public train station for a train, you should be able to use the bathroom without being accosted. These armed security people periodically went around asking those who possible looked homeless the same question of "What are you doing here?" I get it, homeless people might be coming out of the cold to sit in the station but for a tourist to be refused the right to use a bathroom before getting on a train is downright inexcusable. After purchasing a glass of wine from the Terminal Bar I promptly walked up to the security guards and told them I was a patron of the bar and needed to use the bathroom. As it was, there was a homeless person in the ladies room yelling up a storm. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

Large rail station with shops and restaurants; there is a lot of history around this building and we ended up coming her twice during our stay to wander around, people watch and just hang out.

Came through here during my trip on the California Zephyr. It was a well laid-out station with clear signs and easy to navigate. The food and shopping options were good.

Denver area around the station is a go to place lots to experience as for me within two weeks twice attending coors field 2021 to enjoy hard fought 3- game sweeps of SF giants to secure nest record in baseball up 1 over chasing dodgers well you know the rest of the story… but union station a monument and treat to experience. Plenty of people use the large sit down area inside to rest relax and recharge their phones and electronic devices. Several restaurants with entries from outside to eat at a few more expensive than others. One of the times i visited a new dance theatre group was promoting their future opening and performing. Outside the station was the metro to airport train rail and tickets are purchased by machine at every train stop. Very handy. Also the free 6th bus to mall runs constantly many buses on the route down 6th and any stop you lick and pull the cord to let the driver where you want off. This bus route affords you many places to explore shop eat etc, its a lively route. Cant say enough how much and much surprise i was on the never before imagined venture as the first happened during the outside closure to the para Olympics by japan and the second being on a weekend and end of the season and the follow up from the first 3- game sweep of the rockies and the second a jammed packed stadium honoring the hall of fame induction of the rockies Larry Walker wow what sn intro event to the second series sweep. Thank you Colorado and to their credit they did not lay down and roll over but we dod lose the bat of brandon belt which changed the course and season hitory of the 2021 giants world series hope

Nice place to people watch. They have plenty of seating, a bookstore, ice cream parlor, deli, and two bars downstairs with Cooper's upstairs.
