What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with a massage? Or so we thought. After hearing great things about the Spa at Brown Palace, my partner and I decided to book massages for Valentine's day. Unable to reach the Spa concierge on the phone, we booked online. I booked a deep tissue massage for myself and a Swedish Massage for my partner. Under the special notes I requested the couples room, if available.
The day of the appointment, thinking we would be late, we called in advance to inform the Spa and was on the receiving end of poor customer service. The host who answered the phone was not pleasant, nor was there any willingness to assist. We didn't allow that to damper day. We ended up arriving 7 minutes before our appointment time. We were not greeted with a warm welcome. Everything was rushed. Our appointments were not confirmed. Had they were, we would have known we had a couples massage and that my partner's service was somehow changed from a Swedish to a deep tissue without our knowledge.
None of the lockers worked, which in turn took the attendant forever to find us a working locker. At this time it's 2pm, our service should have started, but our therapist had not come to pick us up yet so we assumed they were running behind. Our therapist eventually showed up and at this time it was 2:07pm. My partner was in the restroom and came out at 2:08. When we walked into the room, we were shocked it was a couples. No one had told us the appointment was changed. Till this day I do not know my provider's name nor was my service confirmed. Our service started at 2:11pm and ended at 2:46pm. So, not only were the therapist late picking us up, but we were shorted 4 minutes.
We didn't bother to mention anything to the Spa concierge because she was not pleasant at check-in. We paid and got out of there. FYI - we paid for a deep tissue, when my partner was booked for a Swedish, I'm not sure who changed the appointment.
Will we return? No
Will we recommend? No, there are far better Spas with excellent service in the Denver area.

Don’t even bother. My massage was basically a cat pawing at my back. When I booked, I specifically asked for someone who could give me a firm massage. Obviously that do not happen.
The massage is VERY expensive for the lack of amenities in the spa.
Amenities- 2 showers, 1 (Luke warm) steam room, 1 couch to relax on.
It felt VERY scummy and not what I would expect of a Marriott hotel.

I had the opportunity to receive a facial at the Spa. Because of COVID, we could not show up early and appreciate amenities. Nevertheless, I had one of the best facials I have ever had! My aesthetician was Veronica. I went for the Signature facial. She did some dermaplaning and wow, the effects are still apparent. My skin is so much more smooth. I found the people kind and helpful. I will go back there next time I am in Denver!

This spa is awful! After checking in I was taken down stairs to a “cellar” - it was dark and cold! There was heavy brown paper covering the walls and floor (remodeling?). The steam room was out of order. There is no whirlpool. I was given a locker and my robe was damp!! The message therapist was mediocre at best. DISMAL is the only way to describe this experience.

The massage therapist was amazing but the place is a total mess. No tiles on the floor, dirty towels on the floor, wall with damaged wallpaper … it looked like they were under construction, but they got money anyway. Our massage was included in the package, but we were charged another 60 dollars anyway.

Best spa experience ever! Front desk were very friendly and polite especially Heavon, Bruk and Tyler. I was greeted with champagne and promptly checked in. Gloria my massage therapist heard everything I requested and delivered a phenomenal massage. I will define be attending their new wine down Wednesday and join their membership. The steam room is outstanding and just the right amount of heat and steam. I feel so relaxed and genuinely grateful to be feeling so much better. Thank you so much, I so appreciate the attention and your time. If you’ve never been you must go, I highly recommend it!

What a sad and depressing spa. It’s brown alright and in the basement. Low ceilings. Dark and outdated decor. Just pitiful. Treatment was nothing special. No discussion of products used. Entire property in dire need of renovation.
On a positive note, the construction details that remain from the late 1800’s including onyx clad walls and incredibly detailed metal work still remains. Marriott should bring this beauty back to its former glory and reflag it as a Ritz.

I visited the spa on a Friday afternoon. I had emailed the spa twice earlier in the week with questions and never got a response. I decided to take the leap and book a 50 minute signature massage and a blow out.
The hotel itself is a historical/boutique hotel now run under Marriott. I could tell they were working hard to maintain the “historic” feel of the space but I don’t believe that necessarily needs to flow over into the spa area.
Here’s what I liked:
1. Prompt greeting
2. Well equipped dressing room area
3. Nice selection of teas
4. Chocolate pretzels
5. Seemed clean (except for the showers where there were black hairs all on the tile walls)
Here’s where they need improvement:
1. The lounge was way too crowded with big furniture and did not offer enough seating space.
2. Lounge area seemed too dark and dank and not in a relaxing way.
3. The sauna did not stay hot enough and seemed like a place mold might be residing.
4. There were hairs in the showers.
5. The blow out was less than professional. I’ll be going back to Blow for that.
6. The “service staff” was surly and rude. Constantly in the way but never really seeming to do anything.
7. Apparently they charge the 20% gratuity because none of their staff is outstanding enough to earn that on their own.
All in all it wasn’t a BAD experience, I’ve just had MUCH better elsewhere in Denver.

Booked several various services for myself and 2 other friends who were in town for a girls’ weekend in July of 2018. We did a lot of research before selecting a spa and were excited about our choice. We read from other reviews that guests were offered free champagne on Sundays (which is when we went) and had noted that several people mentioned how wonderful the snacks in the relaxation area were (chocolate covered pretzels, nice selection of teas, etc.). Unfortunately, the experiences for each of us were very different and left a lot to be desired for a couple of us.
The first concern was that the relaxation area in the women’s area is very small and at times was very crowded. The snacks provided were some sort of individually packaged, oddly flavored potato chips and I believe some sort of spicy snack mix...nothing else—not at all what I expect from a spa offering services in this price range.
Aside from this, my first friend, who received a mani/pedi and massage, was generally pleased with her experience. She was offered Mimosas in between each service even though there were only a couple of minutes in between each service. She raved about her mani/pedi, and was pleased with her massage as well.
I routinely get microdermabrasion facials in my hometown, and received one of the best microdermabrasion facials of my life here. My esthetician was engaging, thorough, and was constantly checking in with me to ensure my comfort. After that, I received what was supposed to be a contour wrap, which began with a very thorough exfoliation. After that, the mud was applied in what I felt was a very hasty manner. When I got in the shower to rinse off, there were areas in which the mud was not adequately applied. To my surprise, once the mud was applied, I was immediately wrapped inside several sheets and blankets. No seaweed, no plastic...nothing. I have never heard of such a thing for a body contour wrap. When I asked my service provider about this, she explained that they used to use plastic, but stopped doing so after the hotel and spa came under new management 2 months prior. I’m assuming this explained then uninspiring snacks and other hiccups we encountered as well during our experience as well. And unlike my friend, at no point was I offered champagne or a mimosa, or anything for that matter aside from my esthetician asking if I cared for water after my facial. Not a huge deal for me, but definitely would have enhanced my experience.
My other friend first received a massage, which she said was really good. She then received a facial with the same provider that I saw; however, her experience was much different than mine. The provider didn’t ask her about her preferences (and my friend prefers a more relaxing facial as opposed to the aggressive “do whatever you have to do to make me look amazing” approach that I prefer), and at times, the treatment was too abrasive for her sensitive skin. After this, my friend was sent back to the relaxation area to wait for her third treatment, which was a body scrub. No one informed her that her appointment wasn’t until 40 minutes after her facial, so she sat in the waiting area having no idea what was going on. She thought they forgot about her. During that 40 minutes, no attendants came through the relaxation area, and she wasn’t comfortable walking to the lobby in a robe to inquire about the hold up, so when I finished my final treatment and learned of this, I went to the lobby to find out what was going on. She eventually received her scrub, which she felt was a little hurried. Like me, at no point was she offered a glass of champagne or mimosa, which would’ve been nice during the 45 minutes she was waiting for her body scrub.
Not sure if this has anything to do with the new management, but this is definitely not what I was expecting based on the reviews I read, and is certainly not what I would expect from a spa in the price range. Too many inconsistencies and an obvious lack of communication all around.

My wife & I spent ~ 3 1/2 hours at the Spa on Sunday, Jun 3, 2018 between the Signature Massages and Signature Facials and had a very relaxing time - just what we needed! The staff we encountered were all very friendly & helpful, which helps maintain the relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend Shai Albright (Esthetician) as she has the experience and insight to customize facial treatments for the best results. She also has a great sense of humor!
