Charming place for 'roughing it'. Basic amenities which was fine with us while getting away from it all. Improvements that would greatly improve lodging would be decent cookware (pans were missing all their Teflon. We drove into Walsenburg to purchase a skillet), a couple more towels and papers/kindling to use the fireplace. The fridge in our cabin was so cold it froze all our vegetables and eggs even after lowering the temp to low.

A one-of-a-kind place. The setting is serene, the views are breathtaking, the wildlife is abundant, the cabins are quaint, and the hosts are gracious. This is unspoiled Colorado at its finest. Fishing, hiking, relaxing, horseback riding...it's all here. If you like noise, crowds, and traffic then this is not for you. But if you are looking for a place to get away from the crowds to spend time with family or friends, then you need to book your stay today. Don't believe me? Then believe the dozens of repeat families and guests who keep coming back to this special place year after year.

We loved it here and will definitely return for an extended stay. Our cabin had a swing on the porch that overlooked the valley. If you are looking to disconnect and live in a place of peace and nature, this is it. The restaurant services are limited but that is part of the point. This is not a crowded ski resort. It is place for relaxation and doing out-doorsey things. The small town of LeVeta is charming and the Mom and Pop grocery store is not to be missed. We hiked to the ridge by Bear Lake and we have fished quite a bit for trout in previous trips trips with the RV. We discovered Highway nineteen years ago when we retired and bought an RV. It is the closest place to Oklahoma with real mountains. This has become our favorite place in Colorado.

If you like getting away from it all, would like to spend time in a cabin in a beautiful mountain environment, this is your place.
Your fun can be just what you make it. Fishing on the stocked lake reserved for Yellow Pine guest only, many great walks, some great hikes in the hills, a great play area for the kids, in walking distance to Cuchara village shops, and did I mention the horse riding?
Our horse riding experience was extra special as our twin Grandchildren were only 6 and you needed to be 8 years old to ride. The Wrangler and his crew went out of their way to provide them with a special ride experience that really amounted to lessons. The kids loved it and we very much appreciated it.
The cabins were fully furnished, and we were able to cook and eat the fish we had caught which was special for the kids as they had never fished before.
Very friendly staff who provided for our every need.
Can't think of anthing I would change ... except maybe staying longer.

My wife and I have stayed in many of the Yellow Pine cabins starting back in 1995. Slumber Rest , Cowcamp, Bunkhouse, Lazy Days, and Ridgeview. Great vacation place to unwind with the mountain views. We come to Colorado to hike the trails up high and photograph. Yellow Pine is a jewel of a place. We hope to return with our Grandson in a year or two. Charles and Joyce, Argyle Texas

I read about the ranch in a travel book. My mother, brother, and I stayed with my dog in Bunkhouse for two nights. It couldn't have been more perfect. The view from the porch swing was wonderful and the ranch is in a beautiful area of Colorado that is less-trafficked than many tourist areas. The cabin could not be termed rustic as the furnishings are higher end and you have all the amenities of home. We did bring all of our dishes so I can't speak to what the kitchen was stocked with but the cabin has a full kitchen, full bath, hair dryer, really everything we needed. The cabin is on the road so you can hear the traffic but it was not an issue for me. If you want to have a quieter location, just ask for one of the cabins across the street. I preferred the amazing view from up on the hill although I will try for the cabin on the lake and river next time. We toured the Highway of Legends and then continued on to the Great Sand Dunes. The managers, Diane (sp?) and her husband, could not have been nicer. We will definitely be back!

We stopped with some friends and loved Yellow Pine. Great history in most of the ranch. The new guest lodge is fantastic, sits right on the river and is decorated beautifully. The owners are wonderful people and showed great hospitality. The party barn is neat and every Thursday they feed bbq to all guests and locals that show up. I definitely recommend!!

This is the 3rd year in a row that we have gone to Yellow Pines. It is such a special place. This year we had to evacuate due to the fires on our first night. I'm heartbroken that this special place may be affected by this monster fire. Lee and Joy, our prayers are with you. We hope to be back next year.

We stay here every year for our family reunion. Our family rents Lazy Days. Nice place to stay for a mountain getaway. Small pond on the grounds stocked for fishing.
