We went to the ice festival in Cripple Creek. The ices festival was underwhelming because there were only about 5 sculptures. The town itself is very cute and has a few cute shops and some dessert shops for you and your kids. They will not...More

The town seems to be dominated by casinos which gives it an odd air for a small town. There are a few nice shops with crafty things for sale but unless you're a gambler, it doesn't have much to grab your attention.

Lots of casinos and a few shops and restaurants. Guess they need to bus gamblers in to sustain the town too bad. Best part was the drive over from Colorado Springs.

Read in the brochure about Cripple Creek. Thought it would be fun to ride down to visit from Colorado Springs. The ride down was scenic and breath-taking beautiful. The town however, was Casino filled and not what I had expected at all. I thought this...More

We went to Cripple Creek on a whim. We had no idea what to expect, except that they had casinos. The drive there was incredible. The roads were winding and just kept going higher and higher. We stopped along the way to take pictures cause...More

Back around 1900 Cripple Creek was a mining town with its gambling establishments, saloons, and red light districts. Today the town has been refurbished and is noted for its casinos. In the area is located the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine which you can go down...More

Cripple Creek can be and end point or a start point. There is much to do there besides gamble. The views are spectacular, hiking, biking, visit a mine, the museum and heritage center, use it as a place to come to at the end of...More

Out in the middle of nowhere is an old western town that has been updated to be a row of casinos with the facade of old buildings. So, where do the gamblers come from? Not enough people drive in so the buses come. Has it...More

We went for the rodeo and for the Donkey Derby Days. Fun times. Wholesome family fun. Typical festival food. Cute little shops in the historical buildings lining the streets.

Yes, all the casinos have the latest modern slots and are ticket based. But Bronco Billy's still has a few coin payout machines.

We've been visiting that area for many years. The elevation of Cripple Creek is over 9,000 feet. Snow may be expected most anytime during the Fall, Winter, or Spring.
