To be clear this drive is only treacherous if you continue past Schofield Pass and the West Maroon trailhead on the the "Devil's Punchbowl" section. By means do not continue on unless you are an experienced driver with a 4-wheel drive and good clearance vehicle....More

How beautiful! I would warn that this has some steep, one lane areas. It wasn't an issue for us, but do watch for bicyclists motoring on up the road. It's worth the drive, the flowers, alpine lakes and waterfalls were gorgeous. Plus, there are hiking...More

Me and my wife took one of our Jeeps from Gothic over Schofield Pass to Marble, CO. DO NOT ATTEMPT without four low and good ground clearance (my Jeep has stock suspension). I've done plenty of trails in Moab and West Texas and this one...More

We were out for the wildflowers, but the drive was great too. There are a few very "interesting" places along the road that are not recommended for the faint of heart. Due to the flowers, July is a great time to take the trip

This is a great summer travel spot. Hiking, fishing, extreme kayaking and photography are all perfect here.

I drove my Subaru Outback up to the pass and just over. High clearance vehicle would be best for anything off of the main road. It was a stitch seeing the signs at the top of the pass with all of the stickers from all...More

A world-class four wheeling bucket list route. Include Lead King Basin for a great day on the trail. Can be done in a small to medium 4x4 with good clearance, but your vehicle must have low range available. Don't try this in your RAV 4...More

We went up Schofield Pass several times to launch hikes -- 401, West Maroon Pass, East Maroon Pass, Judd Falls and our scary but exciting drive down the Devils Punch Bowl. I would recommend a high clearance vehicle. Do not bring you sedan up this...More
