Great self driving tour. You'll get a glimpse of the 1800's silver mines that were the reason this area was settled.

Especially at the beginning of the loop driving by the towering mine structures was intimidating. Imagining the miners and their families in these harsh circumstances was moving. The explanations along the way were helpful in portraying the chapter of history.

A great set of opportunities for photographers, Starting with the Creede cemetery and the Amethyst mine. The drive was challenging as we were in a Class B RV. But, well worth the effort. The only thing that could have made it better had there been buildings at Bachelor City. Now all that's there is a few signs explaining it's history and a few rusty cans.

Bumpy drive at points, but well worth the trip. The kids loved following the water and we hopped out at points to splash around. Definitely a must do when coming to Creede.

Visitor center was closed. Probably due to Covid. What's crazy is that I could not find a good map online or good information. They should add more online info if they are not going to be there. For safety if nothing else. I used what I found and yep, I got lost. I'm not sure how I accomplished this but I entered to the right, instead of left like I now think I should have. The road started out normal enough but before I knew it, I was definitely on the wrong road. It was an off road trail that had hairpin turns and rocks all the way up. We finally found the main road at the end. So scary and I suggest you know where your going before you start. I wish I did!
