DO NOT BOOK THIS SITE
Jun 2019 • Family
WARNING: do not book at Moonacres Alpacas!! I booked a holiday here via Pitchup, clearly stating my tent dimensions - which fit well within the listing specifications - and my deposit was taken. Moonacre Alpacas later cancelled my booking, claiming that they believed my tent would be too big (which it wasn’t; I pitched and measured it). Both Pitchup and the campsite are refusing to refund my deposit without further evidence or conditions, despite my having booked in good faith AND THEIR PRESUMPTION BEING FALSE. I will never book with Pitchup again, and will do all I can to ensure others do not either, and certainly not at Moonacre Alpacas. Book at your peril!

Terrible people to deal with.. they will cancel your booking, then refuse to refund your deposit! What a scam!

On the edge of a storm was gorgeous with the fire going. The alpacas would come and see what we were up too. Worth going to again!

Friendly Alpaca farm - fantastic place to stay!

If you enjoy a holiday with a difference or are looking for a new experience then a stay at the Moonacre Alpaca farm is a must! . . . and if you like Alpacas you are going to be in heaven! My husband and I where travelling around Cornwall and Devon, and decided we would stay in a different place each evening. We found Moonacre Alpacas online and booked into their Shepards Hut. The farm is quite difficult to find - our sat nav didn't like the country lanes! Once we arrived we where greeted by the owners, Phil and Alison, who where so welcoming and spent lots of time chatting with us, telling us about the farm and the Alpacas. They then showed us to the Shepards Hut, which is tucked away in the far corner of their farm. The hut had been made by the owners, and was the perfect 'glamping' spot. A cosy caravan with a double bed, and a gas cooker, sitting beneath a huge tree. The toilet for the accomodation was a 'rustic' wooden cubical a few meters away from the hut itself. (If you want a shower the main barn has a home-made shower that you can use with lovely hot water)The hut is totally secluded and private - not overlooked by anyone. The owners live on site so are around if you need anything - but once you go to your hut you are in your own private woodland paradise! The next morning we where invited to go and feed the Alpacas - which was such a great experience! We fed a herd of about 30 females and a few babies too! Phil and Alison where very friendly hosts and I really enjoyed finding out about theie Alpaca herd. Top tips - take wellies although there are some on site if you forget! Bring cash as cash machines are hard to find in this area. (We drove to the nearby shop and bought supplies that we cooked on the gas cooker at the hut) Be ready to be without a phone as signal is very poor (but with all the Alpacas and beautful countryside you won't notice :) ) We stayed for one night, but I am already dreaming of going back in the summer for a few more nights!
