I had never ridden horseback. I wanted to tour the Garden of the Gods as part of a busy itinerary. This seemed like a good way to conserve energy. It was an excellent decision. Both myself and my companion, a more experienced rider, had a wonderful experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and attentive. The horses all had engaging personalities. I rode Thor, a movie star in his own right having worked on a film before, and he was willful but obedient. The tour itself was beautiful and well timed.

My husband, 2 daughters (14 & 11) and I did the 2 hour ride. It was a lot of fun and so beautiful!! I highly recommend doing the tour. 2 hours was long time on a horse, I think 1 hour would've been just as nice. Taylor, our guide, did a great job! The horses are well loved and cared for - 5 stars for our experience!!!

My wife and I rode with Academy on 10/11. We did the 1 hour ride. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The ride itself is very cool. We come from a coastal area, so the mountain scenery to us was just beautiful. The rock formations and the history behind the park were fascinating. My tip would be to try and ride up closer to the guide. 2 reasons: 1. It is very dusty, so ppl in the back tend to eat a lot of dust. 2. At times, it is hard to hear the guide explaining different things. Overall, it was great and I would do it again, but maybe next time do the 2 hour ride. Thank you to the staff who do a tremendous job maintaining the horses and keeping their customers happy.

Our visit to Academy Riding Stables was a great time. You should arrive a bit early and they have a covered outside waiting area. As you wait you get an orientation from one of the staff while another matches you (riding ability, size, etc.) with a horse. My family members got horses named Bonnie and Clyde (perfect for them as a couple!) and I got Vlad (behind the legend of Dracula!) perfect for me. Our ride through the Garden of the Gods was such a beautiful place to ride. It’s definitely trail riding (mostly) and has some ups and downs, rocks, etc. However, the horses know their business and are sure-footed. We took the two-hour ride and given the fact we’re not horse riders that was a good amount of time. There are plenty of photo opportunities (from the back of the horse) but it might be best for a way to attach it to your wrist. Another plus was a stand for people who might have a tough time getting onto the horse. You step up onto the platform and then simply get on the horse. Makes it much easier if you have a hard time climbing onto the horse. It was a great experience and definitely worth it. The guides are great and the scenery is incredible. Remember to bring a gratuity for your guides!

My tour guides were Matt and Ariel. They were amazing. The horses were beautiful and behaved. Matt was very informative about the Gardens and it’s history. He made the ride really enjoyable! Thank you Matt
