It was so much fun. The views were spectacular and the bike ride down was exciting. However at the top of the mountain ⛰, it is very cold. Dress very warm with layers and double glove 🧤 if possible. Once you go down a couple...More
We had a great time with the Pikes Peak Bike Tour. Callie and Wes were very accommodating and all around pleasant. The tip top of the peak was extremely cold, but they had extra gear for any of us that needed it. The three inclines...More
I'm sure this will be one of the highlights of my wife and I's 12-day western vacation. Funnest, most unique thing I've done in a long time (and I'm an adventurer!). We did the Gold Mine Tour which is a dirt and cinder type downhill...More

We had a great morning on the Gold Mine ride. PPB was able to accommodate my adventurous 7 year old with a perfectly fitting bike. We liked that we could go at our own pace and enjoy the ride without having to wait for or...More
The gentlemen working today, Casey, Peter, and Andrew(?) were phenomenal. They were always professional, respectful, and hilarious!

Awesome experience riding down Pikes Peak with this tour company. Peter and Ryan were excellent tour guides. Anyone that is fairly comfortable riding bikes with hand brakes can do this ride. There were several areas with a slight uphill climb. The views are fantastic the...More

Drink a lot of water that morning and the previous day, as well as during the ride; and stop on the couple of uphill sections if you feel winded (you probably will), and even ride in the van for the rest of that uphill section if you need to. Older people will get more winded than younger people. Eat some breakfast before you go. If you do these things you'll be okay, as you are only at the top for a little while, and most of the ride is coasting downhill with no exertion.

This is a question that is very very subjective. Every individual regardless of age is very different in what makes them nervous and also in their ability to control the bicycle. The ride is such that it does not require any advanced level of riding. It is a paved road the entire way and is 95% downhill.
The two factors that are most important are:
1. Our smallest size bikes are 24" wheel kids bikes. They fit down to approximately 4'5" in height.
2. Can you or your children control a bike going downhill with handbrakes? On the Bike Pikes Peak Tour, or Ride-N-Rail tour the van will be behind the group as the support vehicle the entire way. So if at any point in time anyone is uncomfortable it is there as an option to skip a section or three. Typically this happens more often above timberline. Since you are able to see greater distances, this sometimes makes beginner riders nervous.
At the end of the day...yes we have had as young as a 6 year old do this tour. He brought his own bike to ride and he was a VERY skilled little boy who actually did better than others on the trip. We have also had plenty of folks in their 80's do this tour. If you are trying to decide if it is a fit for you please feel free to stop in and try out some bikes and chat with us about it. We are here to help!
