Stop in and enjoy

Easy walk around the lake and all kinds of people enjoying themselves on and off the water, fishing, floating, partying, I'd go back.

Afternoon outing
Aug 2020
I was looking for a place with some nice greenery to take some photos and get out of the apartment for a bit. This park is nice and has some appeal with green grass and trees. A few fisherman around , some people on canoes and swimmers.

Sit out
Aug 2020 • Couples
I enjoyed bringing a chair and sitting out underneath a chair with my feet in the water watching people use their lake devices such as tubes paddleboard’s and kayaks in place.

Nice park for families
Jul 2020
We stopped by for a quick picnic on our way out of time. There were many families enjoying the lake and having a wonderful time. Lots of picnic tables and grassy areas. Did not use the bathrooms.

Great Days are for Great Parks

Loved walking around for a while here. So peaceful, and quiet. Helps having the Rocky Mountains right in site to admire while taking a stroll in this awesome park.

Nice little gem

I think this lake is underrated. Seems like a great place to bring kids to fish. I didn’t fish, I walked it. Nice walk, about 1 mile around. Quiet. Pretty trees that are probably beautiful when in full fall color. There is a playground for kids. Bring a picnic blanket and lunch and you’ve got yourself a nice day.

Family trip

This was a short drive from our stay so we took the chance, even though the reviews were mixed.

* It is free
* There is a mile trail surrounding the lake.
* You can park right up against the trail.
* Halfway around the trail is a play ground, which entertained our 4 children (2-11) for 30+ minutes.
* On our way back to the car, we were able to wade in the water a bit. It was chilly, but it was fun.
* The kids fell in love with the ducks and the cranes that were showing off. They sat and watched them for 20+ minutes. (They are generally not so easily entertained!)
* Only one side of the lake had beach access.
* The view of the mountains in the background and lake in front.. was beautiful.

Always an attraction

Quail Lake is nestled in a neighborhood in SW Colorado Springs, located on Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. The lake is stocked with trout. Thus fishing is popular as well as rowing small , personal boats. No swimming, however! There is a trail around it, two parking lots. It is great for walkers, runners, dog walking ( be prepared to clean up after the dog).
Also good for picnics since it is equipped with a few picnic tables. Just don't count on a restroom. The lake does freeze over in the winter.Nonetheless,it is utilized year round.

Limited usefulness for most

There's really not much here. There is a small play area for kids, and a trail that circumnavigates the lake, but even that's only a mile, so it goes by rather quickly.
