There are many things to see and do on our mountain including experiencing spectacular views as you ascend to 14,115 feet, encounter Mother Nature on our hiking trails or watch for wildlife such as deer, elk, bighorn sheep or yellow-bellied marmots. You may even spot the elusive Bigfoot during your visit. The 19 mile journey on the fully paved road to the summit begins in Cascade, Colorado, just 15 minutes west of downtown Colorado Springs. From the entrance, at an altitude of 7,800 feet (2377m) begin to explore the Pike National Forest and the natural beauty of Colorado.Along the way, you'll discover the North Slope Recreation Area, Crystal Reservoir Gift Shop, Historic Glen Cove Inn, and the Summit House. There are three lakes for fishing, picnic areas, hiking trails, and breathtaking views. Stop and watch one of our "Meet the Ranger" Interpretive Programs and learn about the history, myths, flora and fauna on the mountain. All offer visitor services and basic necessities to make your day both enjoyable and memorable.

I will say that the drive is fun but a bit challenging near the top. Also, make sure you do not have heart or breathing issues as the air is quite rare at the top. It was 59 degrees at the bottom but only 20...More

Unfortunately, we were only able to see the first 13 miles of Pikes Peak due to high winds. I recommend calling the center each day you are in the area and go on the day it is open to the peak. The rangers said it...More

Going to the top of Pikes Peak should be on everyone's list. We drove to the top, which was cool. You should make sure you have plenty of gas in your tank. The 360 degree views at the top are breathtaking. Make sure you bring...More

March was a great month to go, the weather was fantastic! 55 at the bottom of the mountain and 22 at the top. Make sure that you know the difference in temperature as you go up 19 miles an 14,700 feet.

We drove up to the top. The views along the way were amazing! It was cloudy at the top on the day of our visit, but it was clear all the way up. We saw wildlife and snow in July. It was pretty chilly at...More

This is the second time I’ve driven this. Came back so my kids could experience it. It’s a drive like no other and the views are amazing. Lots of scenic places to stop along the way with lots of pullouts. If you are visiting fall-spring...More

Unless you happen to climb mountains all the time then this is an experience worth going out of your way for. The view from the top was amazing (during the summer when we visited) and I still get a buzz from being one of the...More

There is the Barr Trail and the Crags Trail. Both lead to the summit. Both are very popular during the summer.
