We spent a Saturday afternoon at the beach near the Marina in July. It cost $7 to get into the State Park. We backed into a parking space up against the beachfront and tail-gated out the back for a picnic. Grandkids played in the lake; we joined in on inner tubes. Beach is a mix of sand and gravel and... We chose to visit Steamboat lake state park for some easier flat hiking with our friends. The 30 minute drive from Steamboat Springs was absolutely beautiful. I really enjoyed getting out into the open, undeveloped country. The visitor center was very clean and the rangers were helpful in showing us the trail map. We hiked out to the Steamboat Lake... Steamboat Lake is a great venue for a bike ride or walk. There is a well maintained path along the shore of the lake. The scenery and views are a postcard.

Just returned from a 4-day camping trip at the lake. Our first visit to the park. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return. Stayed at Yarrow Loop, close to the water for all day fishing! The park employees we met, Natalie (office) and Clayton (Ranger) could not have been nicer. They were cheerful, eager to suggest ideas... More

Such a beautiful lake nestled at the base of Hahn's Peak. We walked along the lake, nice easy walk and took gorgeous photos of the area.

The drive into Steamboat Lake SP and Pearl Lake SP from Steamboat Springs is about 27 miles. If you want a smaller venue and you can dry camp, do check out Pearl Lake. The campground is more primitive than the Steamboat Lake campgrounds but it's still really charming and Pearl Lake is perfect for kayaks, canoes, and fishing. It's also... More

There's a nice nature trail with good signage and views of the lake. Another trail that leads from the visitor center across the main road that takes you past the old miner's village that has all new cabins now. It then goes past a historical marker about the gold mine that was there.

Pearl Lake is worth the $7 fee to enter the park. Just two miles on a well groomed dirt road you are nestled in he mountains. Great spot for a picnic! Bathrooms and trash areas. Dip into the lake too!
