This is a real gold mine with real gold and enthusiastic guides. That said, the mine isn't very big, maybe 50 yds in a circle. So lots of standing around in the mine. But you do get to see some real gold and the staff/volunteers try really hard to make it interesting. My kids loved panning for gold. Insider tip:... More

Wanted to see a gold mine while in Colorado so we picked this one. It was a nice place, very friendly staff. You get to use a hammer and chisel to take home your own piece of gold ore. Nothing bad to say about this attraction. Wear older shoes as it can be a little wet and muddy in the... More

We researched all the different gold mines to visit and decided we liked this one the best because you actually get to chisel with a hammer for gold. We made the right choice! John, our tour guide, was great, very kind and lots of fun! He was so kind to my parents and concerned about their safety. My mom is... More

We had a great time at Hidee Gold Mine! My teenage son and I went to Hidee on our vacation in Colorado and we had a wonderful time, better than we expected. The guides are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We came away with a good amount of rock with gold in it and hearing about the history of the... More

My daughter, two grandchildren ages 8 and 15 and I visited this mine. We were greeted by very friendly people. Our tour guide I think was Dave and he was so interesting and knowledgeable, that made our tour very informative. He knew what he was talking about and really had a passion for the subject. We tried to chip some... More

Located off the Central City Parkway, down a short, steep and rough entry road, the Hidee Mine is unassuming. Just a few old-time mining shacks and a mine-tunnel entrance. The guides are so friendly, so patient and so great with children. The tour takes you 600 feet into the mine tunnel. Wear hiking shoes and warm clothing. It is a... More

Two families with 4 kids- (ages 6-9). It was a wonderful experience. David, our tour guide, could not have been more knowledgeable and hospitable (he got brought one of our girls a ginger ale bc she was not feeling well). HIGHLY recommended. It was an informative tour, with hands-on chiseling, which the kids ( and adults) loved! We finished off... More

Our family of four enjoyed this tour! Our guide, John, was so knowledgable about the history of this mine as well as mining in general. We actually got to use a chisel and hammer to mine the old fashioned way. It was well done! We each got to take what we mined!
