My husband and I recently booked a bike tour with Royal Gorge Bike Tours. We did a 14 mile ride down Phantom Canyon. This was our first time with this kind of thing! It was a guided tour and Jim took the time to explain our bikes and the terrain we would be on. It was the best experience and the scenery was fantastic. We made frequent stops for photos and just enjoying the views. I would recommend this to anyone.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review! Our mountain bike tours are a new activity for the Royal Gorge area and we are very excited to hear people are having so much fun with it! Now we are anxiously awaiting the fall foliage rides in the Canyon as September closes in! Thanks again for biking with us, Jim

I spent the summer of ‘08 working in Canon City and fell in love with the place and have been vacationing there every summer since. Lost Paddle is a family-run business and they make you feel like part of their family too! When I called up to schedule my annual rafting trip, Jim, the owner, informed me that they were now offering bike/raft tours with lunch in between so I jumped on board. We set out around 9am to bike Phantom Canyon and Emily, our van driver, was very knowledgeable about the area and explained the history and pointed out spots of interest along the way. Jim and Emily also gave us information on other hikes and fun things to do while we were in town. I hadn’t been on a bike for years and I was a bit nervous, but guides Emily and Jim, made me feel safe and showed me exactly how to use the bike. We rode Kona Precept bikes and they were awesome! If you have cycling shorts or a seat pad, I would definitely wear one because I didn’t and my butt was pretty sore the next day. A camelbak was also a good idea because it gets hot and hands free drinking was a nice luxury. Phantom Canyon is stunning and mostly downhill. It was thrilling as a beginner, but I also noticed more extreme routes that experienced riders could take. Jim rode along with our group and took time riding with each of us making sure we were doing ok. Jim was great at taking time here and there for photo opportunities and potty breaks. I was so happy I decided to go on the bike tour!

Thanks for writing an awesome review of our newest activity to the Royal Gorge region! The rafting and the biking have both been fantastic this year with great water levels for rafting, and excellent weather for biking too! Thanks again, hope to see you back for the Shelf Road tour! Jim W.

My wife and I had a great time biking down Phantom Canyon Road. The staff at Royal Gorge Bike Tours went out of their way to make i enjoyable for us. They took us far enough up the road that we literally "coasted downhill" for 14 miles. This was my wife's first experience biking down an unpaved road and John, the owner, took all the time she needed to become comfortable with the equipment. If you are looking for a family adventure that is atypical from the standard rafting trip in the Canon City area, this is it!

I thought I was being silly by taking a selfie with your camera, and you trumped me by posting it here! What a fun day. Thanks for the excellent feedback! This is a completely new activity to the area and we're really excited to see people are enjoying so much. You'll have to come back and give Shelf Road a try sometime. Thanks again for choosing Lost Paddle Rafting and Royal Gorge Bike Tours. We appreciate your business!

Never did a mountain bike tour before this trip so we didn't know what to expect. Kids and I both loved it! Phantom canyon was a nice mostly down hill ride, but the single track turned into a five hour technical bike course that was a lot of fun and exhausting. I would go again next weekend if i lived there. Guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Be sure and tip them if you have a great time.

This was my 2nd time doing this bike tour. It is so much fun. I may do it again yet this fall. Jim is great at explaining the proper usage of these incredible bikes. He explained the history of the area at a few stops along the way including railroads and the gold rush. The terrain is absolutely gorgeous! It is a downhill ride the whole way - easy to do and incredibly fun! Do you want to do something different in Colorado? This is it! Enjoy!

Our family went on the Phantom Canyon Bike Tour with Royal Gorge Mountain Bike Tours out of Canon City, CO yesterday. I have to tell you - it was amazing!!! SO much fun and so beautiful. We have kids ranging from 16 down to 11 years old and everyone felt comfortable doing the tour and had a blast! Highly recommended. Jim, our tour guide and the owner of the business, was extremely knowledgeable about riding (none of us had done mountain biking before) and gave us great instructions. We all did very well. I think anyone - an experienced rider to the novice would find this an incredible ride. He also know a lot about the history of the Canyon. It was very interesting as well. This is
a "must do" activity when in Colorado!
