Great setting and the wine is terrific! I recommend the wine tasting but make sure you have a reservation they are busy and COVID-19 has limited their capacity a bit. Their cleaning procedures were spot on and they sanitized all surfaces before and after use. The staff was friendly and helpful all around a great time!

After a large meal in town, my family and I visited The Abbey. Being Catholic, I found the prospect of a monk-owned winery fascinating! The monks started growing their own grapes and making their own wine decades ago when one of the monks wanted to make a more palatable communion wine.

Tastings are complimentary (except for reserve wines, which are $1 per taste), and guests can taste every wine on the menu. The menu runs from whites to reds to sweet. I really liked the white varieties and the cab franc, but I didn't really like any of the other red wines. We LOVED the sweet varieties; we enjoyed Vineyard Sunset so much, we bought a bottle and shared it on the back patio. The location of The Abbey is very picaresque, too! Sipping wine while nestled in the mountains made for a relaxing time.

We also loved chatting with the lady who poured the wines; she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Her notes about the wines were definitely rehearsed, but when we asked more questions she was able to provide us answers.

Great little stop if you're in the area!

We visited on a Wednesday earlier in the day, and it wasn’t crowded. They have a couple of different tasting options. I opted for the smaller 5 wine sampling. This helped me choose the bottles I wanted to purchase. They have a very cute gift shop as well. The lady who served my wine was so nice. It was a great little detour before heading out of town.

I would absolutely NEVER recommend this winery. From the moment we arrived and were seated by Cynthia it was unpleasant. It was sprinkling outside and instead of seating us under an umbrella we were seated in an area we were getting wet. We then proceeded to wait 20 minutes after our reservation until we were greeted by the waitress, then another 15 minutes to get our first round of tastings. We had to ask for water to clear our pallets and after informing the waitress we were first timers at tasting it wasn't even explained to us. I was highly disappointed from start to finish and we didn't even taste all the wines because we were so anxious to leave because how we were treated. We will not return.

We made a reservation for our party of eight for 3:30 Saturday.
We arrived early. We were told it would be about five minutes.
They had three tables for two and one big table setup in the patio, all occupied.
After waiting some 40 minutes when pressed they explained they were waiting for the big table party to leave. They had at least three other big tables that were empty by the way.
Since the party at the table showed no sign of being even close to leaving, we decided to leave.
Obviously, if you are going to have set times with such limited seating, you need to have a time limit on how long the table is available to you.
That is no way to run a business and they showed no sign of particularly caring one way or another.
They wasted an hour of time without one drop of wine tasted.

I have to agree with another reviewer about the disappointing experience here. From the moment you walk in the door, you are treated as if you are a burden. We had a VIP wine tasting and tried to be friendly with the staff. The young man serving the wine was pleasant but had several tables to attend to. We had to ask questions instead of explaining things to us. The ladies at the gift shop were the worst. Incredibly unfriendly and very put out to ring up an order. Just unpacked the wine I had ordered and one of the bottles is not even what I had asked for. Do not recommend this experience!

This winery is located next to the Abby. The location is beautiful with outdoor seating. The tastings are $8 which you get to taste 13 wines. They have reserve wines on the list that you can taste for a dollar per taste. They have dry to sweet wines. Our server, Dave, was great. You can also order food and enjoy wine with it.

I had a lovely time sitting outside and doing the wine tasting. I enjoyed 2 of their wines enough to really wish I'd bought even more bottles. There are some drawbacks - understaffed and it's kind of off-putting that you feel like you can't sit anywhere unless you're granted a table because you upgrade to a full tasting. I can understand if they're busy, but there was hardly anyone there that day, so all the Reserved signs seemed a little unfriendly, especially for the group who came in with someone in a wheelchair.
I loved their gift shop, and did most of my shopping for my entire trip there. Someone does a great job buying their stock. It seemed busier in there then outside at the wine tastings. The two servers were really friendly, even while they seemed a little overwhelmed with covering the wine tastings and the gift shop. I would go back and buy some more of their Viognier.
tip - They don't have wifi.

This was an amazing stop. The staff member that assisted us was wonderful. He answered all our questions and provided a great experience. We ended up buying 6 bottles to have shipped to our home in FL. Great red wines! So glad we visited.

This Winery is a great place to visit. The day that we went we were only able to visit the gift shop / tasting room due to COVID and they were not allowing tasting at this point either. There are buildings on the property worth walking around. The church is amazing. The staff were great filling us in on the wines and once we got home and tried the wines we bought we will be buying more again soon. This is a great place.
