About
Royal Gorge Zip Line Tours offers a classic or extreme zip line tour and is open year-round. The classic tour has 9 lines soaring over 100 acres of rolling hillside upon the Royal Gorge plateau. The last line is a dual race where you zip to the finish. The extreme tour has 11 lines, the longest line at 1700 ft and the fastest line at 60 mph. The final line is a dual racing line landing on a 7 story tower. From this tower you can descend using the "Flight Line" to free fall up to 30 ft. or the "True Blue" belay.

There are two different packages in canon city that you get to choose from. The first one being seven lines the second one been nine lines. The two extra lines are rather lengthy and well worth the extra money. There’s no better way to feel completely free them to be hanging in a body strap with a steel cable above you and being able to view everything like a bird would view. Even for the inexperienced it’s well worth the money to learn how to have fun doing it

I’ve never been zip lining before and I was pretty nervous about it. The tour guides that I was zip lining with were nothing short of amazing. Cody and Slo were very knowledgeable, funny and extremely accommodating. They showed that you can do something as fun as this, enjoy the views and love every second of it as well as making it very safe for literally anyone. I met some amazing other people in the group as well. Never felt rushed and never felt like I wasn’t in good hands. As someone with a fear of heights, this was perfect, the lines gradually increased in length, and also speed. It was the perfect beginners tour. This trip was a blast and I would highly recommend the tour to anyone that is thinking about it.

Lindsay and Sammy were the best guides ever! They made both my boyfriend and I laugh hysterically but were very serious and knowledgeable about their job. They made sure we were all comfortable with everything we were doing. Even though I was scared to death most of the time they made it a very pleasurable experience. I can now say I jumped off a 70 ft tower without having to be pushed off. I highly recommend this place. It was totally worth the money!!

This is the best tour company in Colorado! Their parking lot has plenty of parking and the company will keep your keys after you lock your valuables in your car. You are allowed to carry a water bottle (as long as you have a carabiner to clip it to your belt) and there is cold water also available on the trail. You hike between elements and the trail is very well maintained with very scenic views. Ground school is very thorough and our guides were very patient with our learning ( we had a group of 12 senior women). Our guides— Tangles and Briley knew all our names and always made us feel safe and encouraged us on every line. There is a photographer following you and he took lots of individual pictures as well as group pictures. The restaurant on site is massive and the food was delicious with huge servings of everything.
We had used this company before for our whitewater trip and our group coordinator— Chris Wahle went out of his way to make sure every detail of our event was covered beyond expectation. Every member of our group was beyond pleased with their experience! We will definitely be using this company again! Thank you Chris, Tangles and Briley for the wonderful memories!

Allow me to highly recommend the Royal Gorge ZIP line experience. The team was fantastic. Led by “Coach,” the team is great! We have experienced their customer service on our last year’s Colorado vacation. As returning customers our patronage is exclusively due to their level of safe, friendly and professional team.
This year be brought our seven year old. We were blessed with “Tangles” and Alyssa (who by the way is a certified teacher) who made our daughter not only dry apprehensive tears, but had her shouting for more, not wanting to leave. Thank you ladies, we love you!
Can not wait to come back. We done team; see you next time we are in Colorado.

We had a great time. Two adults & my 17 and 19 year old.. We did the Sheep Horn rafting with Zach and extreme Zip with Luke and Cassidy. Really nice scenery and some rapids made it a good beginner rafting that was still fun. We got our lunch voucher and got changed and headed for lunch. Restroom/changing facilities are a little crowded but we had plenty of time between activities sot it wasn’t a big deal. Express lunch options had something for everyone but are prepared ahead so not many modifications can be made like no mustard on the panini. Food was better than expected when it arrived. Big sandwiches. The beans as a side were far better than the potato salad so get that. Beans had meat in them where the potato salad was dry and trying to be healthy :). Yard games around the restaurant was a nice setup since we had about 30 min after lunch.. We did afternoon extreme zip and it was really well done as well. It was warmer but the crew was really professional when a person had altitude sickness/heat exhaustion and was picked up. They were fun and kept us moving but gave little breaks on the hike which was nice because it’s a little challenging. Made it doable with water stops and covered areas along the way. Photographer was on first few zips. Got ok pictures from both activities but quite a few were like side shots that I wouldn’t have gotten it it weren’t for the package. Crew was great with the tower jump that we were a little nervous about.. turned out that stepping off was the hardest part and they made you feel confident enough to do so.
Great setup and they make it easy. Safety was clearly a priority. Crew was professional, engaging, and kept it fun. Very fun way to spend a day and makes a moms job easy as everything was planned out, facilities were good. Would absolutely do again.

My wife and I traveled to Denver, Colorado for a 4 day weekend getaway trip. After much research on ziplining in the Denver area, we decided to go with Royal Gorge Zip Line Tours even though they were a little over two hours drive from our hotel. We "WERE NOT" disappointed! Best Zip Lining tour that we have experienced. We went with their Classic Course (9 lines) and had a blast throughout the entire time there. Our tour guides were "Jake and Emily". Couldn't have asked for a better duo to make our trip extremely enjoyable. They were very professional, safety conscious, and very laid back which provided for a fantastic time with them and our other participants in the group. We were a total of six personnel and we all got along extremely well which made the day that much better. The zips were great and an awesome way to spend the day. I would definitely return to Royal Gorge Zip Line Tours again, but will go for their "Extreme" Course (11 lines). If you are ever in Denver or Colorado Springs, make it a point to visit Royal Gorge Zip Line Tours and give their Zip Lines a go! You will not be disappointed. Another shout out for "Jake and Emily" for making our amazing day enjoyable and definitely exciting!

Zach and Ashley was our guide for the extreme zip line tour at 830am and they were amazing! We were first time zip liners and they made us and everyone else slightly nervous so comfortable with the whole experience. We couldn't have asked for for better guides. The zip lines themselves were outstanding and breath taking. The views while zipping were something out of national geographic. If you ever get the chance to visit the royal gorge I definitely recommend the extreme zipline tour and try to get Zach and Ashley as your guide you will not be disappointed!!!

Had an awesome time today on the extreme zip line tour!! If you are going to do this you need to spend the extra money to do the extreme over the classic zip line. It is the tallest zip line in the nation, literally no one else's can say that. My buddy and I are on our way back home to North Carolina from California and this was well worth it to take the time to do. We are a bit of adrenaline junkies and this was a great experience, ESPECIALLY with the free fall tower at the end!
Shoutout to our tour guides Jerica and Emily they were the best! So awesome to share stories and get to know them while we were there. They definitely made our trip so much more special.
Shoutout to Jerica's mom! I hope this makes the fridge! Haha!

Went on the classic course with guides Caily and Zach! They were tremendous! Very fun and clearly knew what they were doing, made me feel extremely safe. The course itself was a perfect first zip-lining experience. I loved being in nature and zipping with full participation. The guides were great and the course is fun.

We want to zip line the Royal Gorge however do they have a zip line where 2 people can go together? I want to try it but will not go by myself!!LOL
Written August 4, 2018
I believe they do across the gorge. We didn’t do that one. We went on a course of 9 lines. The guides are very good and you’ll be well instructed. Only the last line was a double where you race the other person. It was fun! This was our first time to zip and it was great! Do it!

Almost none. You cross the bridge, pass, or visit the theater take a short walk uphill. It is a little steep so take your time, or your tights or legs will burn.
Then you weigh in, pay and are strapped in - off you go. $ 50 is way too much for the short ride, but if you really want to try it. Enjoy.

Hi, How much time should we allow to do a zip line tour at Royal Gorge?
thanks,
Cynthia

Sorry for the delayed response. If you haven't experienced it already then I would say register what you can online and we went first thing in the morning and didn't wait that long at all. We did zip lining in the morning and we were there for a total I think of three hours. Then, we went back to the hotel to clean up and then came back for our free meal since we got the package with white water rafting in and it was amazing. The zip lining, the food, and the rafting equaled a perfect trip!!! Hopefully that was helpful.

Does this zip line have a braking system at the end to stop you?
Written June 7, 2016
Hello Everyone!
We do have a braking system at the end of each zip line. Our company operates two different types of braking systems.
On both our Classic course and Extreme course, we have Brake Shuttles that are made to help reduce the speed and create a smooth stop coming into each receiving platform. At Ground School, a pre class on zip lining, you are taught how to hand brake which is also used to assist in slowing yourself down. On both of our courses you will also find an automatic braking system called ZipStops that are used on zip lines that may produce faster speeds.
We do not have a spring system at our company.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to give us a call! we would love to hear from you. Our number is 719-275-7238

Please advise Carrie that her momental desire to "puke" on the first jump off the tower, and then wanting to jump again is why they invented the term: ReGurgitate.
To get it you must read her review.

I am traveling this summer with my children 12, 10 and 8. They have zipped at low key places. Is this an appropriate tour for them?
Thanks!

Definitely look for a coupon. We went in the afternoon in August and it is pretty warm. Be prepared for hiking between zips that is taxing for all ages unless you're in great shape. There were 9 zips and 3 water stations so you do get a chance to hydrate. We had an 8 and 11 year old in our group and they were fine.

Look for the deals being offered on the discount sites. I went on Groupn, got mine for $49. It's originally $89. That price was for one person. It was fun, but not worth $89. Glad I didn't spend that. That's too much,..in my opinion.
Written May 18, 2015
Hello Trailduster,
Thanks for your question/comment. We are happy to offer the discounted rates but we are only able to do so on a very limited basis. Occasionally participants share the opinion that the tour we or offer is priced at a premium.
What a lot of people don't realize is the cost of building, maintaining and operating a zip line course. There are a lot more costs associated in operating than what is perceived. (especially a course the size and quality of ours).
The investment is great and the prices we charge on our regularly listed rate is definitely commensurate to the services offered.
In spite of the cost of operations we happily pay the price as we love to offer the experience we provide as it has always been unique and exciting.
At any rate, we hope to see you again!

Hello Justin,
We offer one rate on our zip line tour as a "seat" is a fixed cost in operating the tour. We use the airline annology often in comparing our rates. The only difference here is we couldn't allow a child to ride on your lap for obvious reasons. ;)
Please call with questions you may have and we can happily answer them.
