The lake is very calm w/o motorized boats. Canoes/kayaks are okay. Often a wide variety of ducks on the water. About 5-6 years ago we saw the white Rocky Mtn. goats there. Not this time. If you have a 4wd & high clearance, go beyond...More

My family and I go to cottonwood lake every time we come to Buena Vista. It is a beautiful place to come and fish, we usually catch our limit when we go, but if the fish aren’t biting it’s still a beautiful place to just...More

This little lake tucked in among the aspen, pines and mountains is very lovely. The lake is only for non motorized craft so quiet all around. There are lots of paths to hike and many camping sites if you like rustic camping. The lake is...More

We were told by a local about Cottonwood Lake. We rented paddle boards and packed a picnic. What a beautiful area and it was quiet. Great place to kick back and relax!

If I had another few days, this is a lake I would have liked to fish. It's a postcard only better. I was there on a rainly day, but even so there were canoes with sportsmen out on the lake--really it's just beautiful.

It's not an AWD rode, just washboard rough. Some of our party visited this while others rafted. Beautiful views, crystal water, lots of folks active on the water kayaking, spb, etc.

Great place for families. Not so great if you want solitude. Lots of people fishing near the parking lot. Lots of people walking the paths. Not so much to disturb but if you want to be out of sight of other people or other fishermen...More

Enjoy a scenic drive to this charming lake, where there is a mountain goat viewing area. Fishing, SUP, and kayak/canoe paddling are the main pastimes on the small lake. Be sure to bring insect repellant. On your way home, you can stop at a hot...More

Drove out to Cottonwood lake on a cool spring evening. We were looking for mountain goats, elk and other wildlife and were also interested in seeing the lake. Unfortunately, there are not hiking trails all the way around it. There is a dock to fish...More

Lots of sites I saw were easily accessible by car directly. Vehicles parked right by the tents.
